I grew up in the north, so these delicious and heartwarming southern dishes are still new to me. As I\u2019ve started branching out and trying new things, I\u2019ve fallen in love with southern cuisine! This recipe originated in Southern Louisiana where gulf shrimp are famous there. I have enjoyed my time in Louisiana and have learned so much about their style of cooking.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Every time I travel I love to try the local foods. Traveling is where I have found some of my favorite recipes like my <a href=\"https:\/\/therecipecritic.com\/fish-and-chips\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">fish and chips recipe<\/a>, Chicago-style <a href=\"https:\/\/therecipecritic.com\/deep-dish-pizza\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">deep dish pizza<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/therecipecritic.com\/fried-chicken\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">best fried chicken<\/a> I\u2019ve ever had. There is nothing like experiencing life through other people\u2019s food!<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-ingredients\">Ingredients<\/h2>\n<p>There are so many ingredients you can include in this easy shrimp creole! This is a list of the most basic ingredients, but you could also add bay leaves, thyme, cayenne pepper, cajun seasoning, the list goes on! However you fix it, you are going to love the blend of flavors in this dish. You can find measurements below in the recipe card.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Olive Oil: <\/strong>I prefer olive oil for the flavor and it can handle a lot of heat. You can use your favorite oil, or whatever you are used to cooking with<\/li>\n<li><strong>Green Bell Pepper:<\/strong> They are a little sweet, and add lots of flavor to this meal. They just get better over time!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Onion: <\/strong>They are great at adding lots of flavor to the dish, and help make all of the other flavors in the dish shine.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Celery Stalks: <\/strong>I like to cut off the tops and the white ends, and dice them into small pieces. You want them to cook quickly and be the perfect bite size.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Garlic Cloves:<\/strong> Fresh garlic adds a sweet and savory flavor. It makes for a great sauce.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stewed Tomatoes:<\/strong> You can buy stewed tomatoes in a can in the canned tomato section. I don\u2019t use a specific brand, and you should be able to find them at your local grocery store.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tomato Sauce: <\/strong>I also buy this from a can.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Chicken Broth:<\/strong> You could also use vegetable stock or a shrimp stock.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Chili Powder:<\/strong> Chili powder adds a little kick. It\u2019s so tasty with cauliflower rice and garnished with fresh parsley. This is a hearty and filling meal that the whole family will love. The best part is the cleanup is a breeze and the leftovers are incredible.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Add Ingredients:<\/strong> In a medium sized skillet over medium high heat add the olive oil.
