Beth Dutton a fan favorite on Yellowstone<\/em><\/a>, but Kelly Reilly<\/strong><\/a> recently revealed that she doesn\u2019t always love cocreator Taylor Sheridan<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s vision for the character.<\/p>\n Reilly, 46, discussed her thoughts on Beth\u2019s arc in a featurette included on the Blu-ray and DVD editions of the first half of season 5. \u201cI\u2019m coming to it almost the same as the audience,\u201d she said in the clip. \u201cI mean, I have my hopes and thoughts for the character. Also, as I\u2019ve played her for over five years now, I feel like I know her so well, but I\u2019m still learning.\u201d<\/p>\n Reilly went on to say that she still gets surprised by things Sheridan, 53 \u2014 he has written or cowritten all 47 episodes of the show \u2014 decides to do with Beth. \u201cThere are still things that I read and I didn\u2019t expect, or sometimes I wish for something else for her, but that\u2019s the same as the audience,\u201d she explained, adding that she thinks it\u2019s \u201cfascinating\u201d to discover where the show is going. \u201cWe\u2019re all sort of beholden to the vision of the storyteller, and we serve the story. Who knows what\u2019s going to happen? I find that exciting as an actor.\u201d<\/p>\n Yellowstone<\/em> has been plagued by delays and rumors of drama on set<\/a> for months. The first half of the fifth season<\/a> wrapped up in January and was supposed to be followed by the second half this summer, but filming delays pushed the release date back to November. Paramount Network confirmed in May that the show will end<\/a> after the remaining episodes of season 5 air.<\/p>\n The announcement came amid speculation that series lead Kevin Costner<\/strong><\/a> was holding up production on the new episodes and refusing to make himself available for more than a handful of days on set. His lawyer Marty Singer<\/strong>, however, denied that Costner, 68, was the reason for the holdup. \u201cThe idea that Kevin was only willing to work one week on the second half of season 5 of Yellowstone<\/em> is an absolute lie,\u201d Singer said in February. \u201cIt\u2019s ridiculous \u2014 and anyone suggesting it shouldn\u2019t be believed for one second. As everyone who knows anything about Kevin is well aware, he is incredibly passionate about the show and has always gone way above and beyond to ensure its success.\u201d<\/p>\n Costner, meanwhile, is hard at work on his Horizon<\/em> saga<\/a>, which marks his first time in the director\u2019s chair since 2003\u2019s Open Range<\/em>. He has been trying to get the western epic made since 1988, but production didn\u2019t begin in earnest until early 2022. Costner \u2014 who plans to split the 11-hour saga into four movies \u2014 confirmed in May that production had begun on the second film and said he hopes to premiere the first movie later this year.<\/p>\n Sheridan, for his part, denied that he and Costner ever feuded. \u201cMy last conversation with Kevin was that he had this passion project he wanted to direct,\u201d Sheridan told The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a> in June. \u201cHe and the network were arguing about when he could be done with Yellowstone. I said, \u2018We can certainly work a schedule toward [his preferred exit date],\u2019 which we did.\u201d<\/p>\n Costner is also in the middle of a nasty divorce battle with estranged wife Christine Baumgartner<\/strong><\/a>, whom he wed in 2004. In May, an insider exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> that the Yellowstone<\/em> production delays were \u201cone of the reasons\u201d<\/a> for the couple\u2019s split.<\/p>\n \u201cChristine wasn\u2019t happy with Yellowstone<\/em>\u2018s schedule delays because it caused him to miss so much time with his family,\u201d the insider said, adding that Costner had always been worried about how much the on-location project would take him away from home. \u201cHe was on the fence about doing the show from the beginning.
