The Big Bang Theory<\/em><\/strong><\/a> was almost a very different show.<\/p>\n A lot of fans of the show know that before Kaley Cuoco<\/strong><\/a> was cast as Penny, it was Amanda Walsh <\/strong>who played the female lead, Katie.<\/p>\n However, after the pilot was shot and presented to the network, the character of Katie and a few other elements weren\u2019t perceived that well.<\/p>\n That\u2019s when the show was reworked a bit, and Kaley <\/strong>was cast as Penny, and according to former CBS executive Nina Tassler<\/strong>, it was Kaley <\/strong>who helped the show make it to the air.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Nina <\/strong>spoke to Emmy Magazine<\/em> in a new interview<\/a>, sharing that there was a lot that did work in the pilot, there were a few things that didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n \u201cThere was so much about the pilot that did work. But there were parts of the script that didn\u2019t work, and we had to recast an actress,\u201d she shared.<\/p>\n The original character, Katie, was described as \u201cworldlier\u201d and was more harsh to Sheldon and Leonard. Something that\u2019s the opposite of Penny.<\/p>\n Nina <\/strong>went on, saying that series creator \u201c[Chuck Lorre] is such an extraordinary talent. He had a great concept and wonderful chemistry between the two leads, so I asked him if he would try again. And he immediately said, to his credit, \u2018You\u2019re right, I know I can do better.
