LMAOF<\/a> is a new comedy series now streaming on \u00a0OnlyFans TV<\/a>\u00a0(OFTV), OnlyFans\u2019 free, safe-for-work streaming service.\u00a0LMAOF showcases some of the hottest comics from across the country. One of these comics is Mateen Stewart.<\/p>\n Mateen was born and raised in\u00a0Detroit, Michigan. He majored in theater at Florida A& M University and has appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. He has worked with Ben Stiller and The State\u2019s and even played the token \u201cBlack Guy\u201d in a national McDonald\u2019s commercial. Mateen is a founding member of the Wellspoken Comedy Tour and has participated in SF Sketchfest, SLC Comedy Carivale, Women in Comedy Festival and the San Diego Comedy Festival.\u00a0<\/p>\n We chatted with Mateen about his comedy journey, working with OFTV and dealing with hecklers in our exclusive interview.<\/p>\n How did you get your start in comedy?<\/strong> How long have you been performing?<\/strong> How would you describe your comedic style?<\/strong> What is your joke writing process like?<\/strong><\/p>\n I used to write everything down but now it\u2019s more like life happens and I make notes and then work it out on stage. A really good joke could take years to finally develop.<\/p>\n Do you have a funny bombing story?<\/strong><\/p>\n I performed six minutes of silence at the Comedy Store on February 1, 2013. I\u2019ll never forget that day. I was doing a bringer show and I had only brought two people, so I had to go at the end. I was the 23rd comic of the night and I tried ALL new jokes and they didn\u2019t work at all. I remember leaving the stage and thinking. \u201cOh, this is why comics kill themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n How do you deal with hecklers?<\/strong> How did you get affiliated with OFTV?<\/strong> What do you hope to achieve with your comedy?<\/strong><\/p>\n Independent generational wealth.<\/p>\n What\u2019s next for you?<\/strong><\/p>\n I have a new podcast coming out in the fall that I\u2019m super excited for and I would love to do more work with OFTV.<\/p>\n Who are your influences?<\/strong><\/p>\n My comedic influences are Patrice O\u2019Neal, Mike Birbiglia, Bill Cosby (I know \ud83d\ude41 ). I\u2019m also a fan of one liner comics like Wendy Liebman and Anthony Jeseilnik.<\/p>\n Who would you love to work with?<\/strong> What are three things you can\u2019t live without?<\/strong> What\u2019s your biggest pet peeve?<\/strong><\/p>\n People who are fakers.<\/p>\n If you could wake up tomorrow with a talent you don\u2019t already possess or a superpower, what would you want?<\/strong><\/p>\n I\u2019d want to be able to turn people into the things they hate the most. I\u2019m an actor by trade and I was creatively depressed after deciding to close my theatre company. I had a goal for the year to do three minutes at an open mic. My mom suggested I take a standup class. I didn\u2019t know those were a thing. I Googled and they were like a thousand of them. I picked one and she bought it for my birthday.<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve been performing standup comedy since 2012. I\u2019m in year 11.<\/p>\n
I\u2019d describe my comedy as a TED Talk Cupcake with dick joke sprinkles. It\u2019s observational educational humor.<\/p>\n
It really depends on the heckle and the situation. Most hecklers feel like they are helping \u2013 and they are not. I think this new wave of \u201cCrowd Work\u201d comedy videos is giving audiences more motivation to heckle. I hate it but it is what it is. Being a large black man, I have to be aware of who the heckler is and what I say. I have to say in my experience there is no worse heckler than a drunk white woman in a bachelorette party. I was in Ohio and a women yelled \u201cIs that your real voice, \u2018cause you sound whiter than me!\u201d I replied \u201cYes, this is my real voice. Is that your real fat, \u2018cause you look like a hippo!\u201d Of course, she got upset and felt attacked and her whole group left because I was \u201cbeing mean\u201d.<\/p>\n
