While many Real Housewives<\/i><\/a> stars have faced backlash for using Ozempic to slim down<\/a>, Heather Dubrow<\/strong><\/a> isn\u2019t here for the criticism.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m over this whole ozempic-shaming thing, and I\u2019m also over people asking, \u2018Are you on Ozempic?\u2019\u201d the Real Housewives of Orange County<\/i><\/a> star, 54, exclusively told Us Weekly <\/i>on Wednesday, August 9<\/a>. \u201cWould you ask someone, \u2018Are you on a beta-blocker? Cholesterol? What are your statins? What\u2019s that looking like?\u2019 It\u2019s private medical information. I don\u2019t think it\u2019s anyone\u2019s business.\u201d<\/p>\n Dubrow further noted that Ozempic and other similar weight loss drugs<\/a> \u201c[seemed] to be working wonders\u201d for individuals with diabetes long before semaglutide injections were used for weight loss<\/a>. \u201cI think it\u2019s gonna end up being like Botox was [when it] first came out,\u201d she told Us<\/i>. \u201cI remember, I think Terry [Dubrow]<\/strong><\/a> and I had been married, like, a year or two<\/a>, and InStyle <\/i>magazine interviewed me and they said, \u2018What\u2019s the strangest thing you have in your refrigerator?\u2019 And I said, \u2018Botox.\u2019 And everyone was like, \u2018[Dramatic gasp.] She said, Botox<\/a>.\u2019 And I was like, \u2018Hey, I am married to a plastic surgeon<\/a> and I get injected every couple of months. It\u2019s good.\u2019 And now, you know, you can\u2019t spit in New York City and not hit a Botox center on a street corner. I mean, it\u2019s everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued: \u201cI feel like these miracle weight loss drugs are gonna end up being the same thing. Plus, back in my day, what did we do<\/a>? I took Dexatrim, I smoked cigarettes and I drank Diet Coke. Oh, that was a healthy, great plan.\u201d<\/p>\n Terry, 64, however, isn\u2019t sure if Ozempic and Botox are totally comparable.<\/p>\n \u201cThese Ozempic-type drugs aren\u2019t the new Botox. They\u2019re better. They\u2019re Botox, liposuction, breast augmentation, facelifts,\u201d the Botched<\/i> doctor exclusively told Us<\/i> earlier this month<\/a>. \u201cPut it all together, and you\u2019ve got a drug that\u2019s not only making people look better and feel better, it\u2019s treating the No. 1 risk factor for heart disease, diabetes and cancer. So, this is an incredibly powerful positive thing that is truly the most significant, I think, medical breakthrough in history.\u201d<\/p>\n Medications like Ozempic, Mounjaro and Wegovy were primarily approved for individuals who struggle with diabetes, high blood pressure or other chronic weight-related conditions. In recent months, many celebrities \u2014 including several of Heather\u2019s fellow Housewives, such as her RHOC<\/i> costar Emily Simpson<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 have tried the drug to help their own weight loss<\/a> journeys.<\/p>\n \u201c[My] doctor was just like, \u2018Oh, there\u2019s this new weight loss drug and it\u2019s just been FDA-approved and it\u2019s great. I think it would really help you lose some weight, and you\u2019ll feel better and you\u2019ll be able to get working out again and feeling more like yourself,\u2019\u201d Simpson, 47, exclusively told Us<\/i> last month<\/a>. \u201cAnd I was like, \u2018OK, sounds great.\u2019 Anyway, I did that in December. It was great for my diet. It really just kickstarted me into eating better and eating healthier \u2019cause it makes you feel like crap \u2019cause nothing tastes good.\u201d<\/p>\n While Simpson was only on the drug for a brief period<\/a>, it helped inspire her to improve her fitness routine and learn to eat better. \u201cIt was very short-lived, but it was very effective,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
