Gabriela Barrag\u00e1n<\/strong><\/a> recently watched the Below Deck Down Under<\/i> <\/a>episode that chronicled Luke Jones<\/strong> and Laura Bileskalne<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s firings \u2014 and was shocked by their behavior.<\/p>\n \u201cMy jaw was on the floor. I wish Bravo put a trigger warning at the beginning of the episode,\u201d the Below Deck Sailing Yacht<\/i> <\/a>alum, 34, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/i> on Friday, August 11. \u201cI\u2019m really impressed by producers stepping in [and] the decision to air it as it happened. And Aesha [Scott]<\/strong> and Captain Jason [Chambers]<\/strong><\/a> were amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n Gabriela added: \u201cIt\u2019s the perfect example of what would happen in a real setting on a yacht on or off the show. Sexual assault in the maritime industry<\/a> happens all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n During the Monday, August 7, episode of Below Deck Down Under<\/i>, Luke, 35, climbed naked into passed-out colleague Margot Sisson<\/strong>\u2019s bed<\/a> when the boat\u2019s power went out. Producers immediately stepped in after Luke tried to make a move on Margot before Jason, 50, sent him to a hotel. The ship\u2019s captain fired Luke the next day<\/a>.<\/p>\n Laura, 31, subsequently defended Luke\u2019s actions, which drew criticism from Aesha, 31. The chief stew then told Jason that Laura lacked boundaries<\/a> with fellow costar Adam Kodra<\/strong>. Adam, 34, confirmed that he felt uncomfortable around<\/a> Laura, and Jason fired her as well. (Laura has since issued a public apology<\/a> to both Margot and Adam.)<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s hard to feel safe in some environments<\/a> because of hierarchy. Sometimes people in high ranking positions \u2026 there are times when you can be sexually harassed by a superior and there\u2019s no one to go to because of the chain of command and it\u2019s awful,\u201d Gabriela \u2014 who appeared on Below Deck Sailing Yacht<\/i> season 3<\/a> \u2014 told Us<\/i>. \u201cAnd Aesha has had experience, and she could see the red flags and pick up on behavior earlier in the night. I think she had a bad feeling and it seemed she followed her instincts and did the right thing swiftly.\u201d<\/p>\n Gabriela also praised how quickly Jason and the producers stepped in to foster a safe working environment<\/a>. \u201cThere\u2019s zero tolerance and if people are uncomfortable in such small living quarters [where] you don\u2019t feel safe, it needs to be taken care of immediately,\u201d she added. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t always happen. \u2026 I\u2019m happy that Margot is OK and that most of the crew on board were supportive.\u201d<\/p>\n Gabriela noted that she found the way Laura spoke to Margot about the incident to be \u201cvery shocking,\u201d insensitive and disrespectful. \u201cPersonally, I thought it was scary because she was shaming the victim to her face when no one else was around,\u201d the Bravo alum, who currently works in yachting<\/a> in California, told Us<\/i>. \u201cMargot is still trying to put the pieces together of what happened and have a colleague who is downplaying and minimizing and invalidating it and a woman on top of it.\u201d<\/p>\n Gabriela \u2014 who has since reached out to Margot, 28, via social media \u2014 felt \u201creally proud\u201d of the whole Down Under<\/i> team and the producers for how they handled the situation. \u201cIt was really touching, it was [a] beautiful episode at the end showing the camaraderie and the way they treated Margot,\u201d Gabriela explained. \u201cIt was a rollercoaster of emotions in that episode. It was rage and being triggered and then feeling good somehow. There are good people out there.\u201d<\/p>\n Gabriela was pleased to see Bravo and Jason\u2019s crew handle the scandal with care<\/a>, and the same happened during her season with producers. \u201cI did end up quitting the show because I didn\u2019t feel supported and not emotionally safe,\u201d she told\u00a0Us,<\/i>\u00a0but she claimed that her producers frequently \u201cbroke the fourth wall\u201d and stepped into on-camera drama, alleging that they \u201chad a hard time deciphering what was consent and what wasn\u2019t, especially when alcohol was involved.\u201d<\/p>\n She added, \u201cAnd it wasn\u2019t just the bed jumping thing [during my season]. It was the fighting, the arguments people were getting into when we were drunk. It was having a mental breakdown, crying hysterically. They did step in<\/a> and say \u2018Hey, cut it out, go to bed, bye.\u2019<\/p>\n
