It\u2019s been over for Ben Higgins<\/strong><\/a> and Lauren Bushnell Lane<\/strong><\/a> for six years, but the former Bachelor appeared bothered by what he perceived as his ex-fianc\u00e9e rewriting their history.<\/p>\n \u201cI will say the only point of this that upsets me at all \u2014 not, like, upsets me angrily, just, like, would make me frustrated \u2014 would be that show is a real experience for me. I invested, personally, a lot of effort into trying to figure out if it was the path that it was going to help me find my partner or not,\u201d Higgins said on a recent episode of his \u201cAlmost Famous\u201d podcast<\/a> after Ashley Iaconetti<\/strong><\/a> suggested Bushnell Lane downplayed their relationship during his appearance on Shawn Booth<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cIn the Booth\u201d podcast<\/a>. \u201cI had a lot of incredible women on that show and a lot of incredible people. And if she was feeling this way, I wish she would have, maybe, made that more apparent during the process.\u201d<\/p>\n During her chat with Booth, Bushnell Lane reflected on getting engaged to Higgins in 2016 after some fans were heavily rooting for him to pick fellow finalist JoJo Fletcher<\/strong><\/a>. At the time, she thought she was \u201churt\u201d by the fan response because she was \u201cso madly in love\u201d with Higgins, but now she thinks it was because she was \u201cbeing torn apart\u201d online.<\/p>\n \u201cI feel like you, maybe, had deeper feelings [for Kaitlyn Bristowe<\/strong><\/a> than I did for Ben] and maybe it\u2019s because you were older,\u201d Bushnell Lane told Booth, who was engaged to the season 11 Bachelorette from 2015 to 2018. \u201cLooking back, it would be like me explaining, like, me being madly in love when I was 21. I just feel like it\u2019s different than being in love at 30. \u2026 I feel like my feelings weren\u2019t as deep, maybe, now in hindsight. In the moment I thought that the were or I wouldn\u2019t have made that decision.\u201d<\/p>\n Bushnell Lane added that she initially went on the show to \u201ctravel [and] eat food,\u201d listing \u201cmeet Ben\u201d as the third reason. \u201cI did think Ben was so cute, he\u2019s a handsome guy. He just seemed so nice and normal and [had] similar values. So I was like, \u2018That\u2019s a plus,\u2019 but mostly I was like, \u2018I really want to travel, this sounds so fun,\u2019\u201d she recalled before asking Booth if his and Bristowe\u2019s \u201chappy couple weekends\u201d while the season was airing were \u201cfun.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI feel like ours were happy, but there was a lot of stress \u2026 of whatever episode that aired that week,\u201d Bushnell Lane admitted.<\/p>\n Higgins, for his part, told Iaconetti that he doesn\u2019t want Bushnell Lane to write off the \u201cmeaningful season of life.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt worked out for both of us very well. But I think discounting that season of life is not fair to either of us,\u201d he said. \u201cIt was something that impacted us both greatly. And what it did for me \u2014 and what I believe it probably did for her, you know, I cared about Lauren a lot [and] still care about her. I want to see her thrive in life. \u2026 I only have good memories of our time together. I don\u2019t have a lot of bad memories.\u201d<\/p>\n While Higgins married Jessica Clarke<\/strong><\/a> in November 2021, Bushnell Lane wed Chris Lane<\/strong><\/a> in October 2019 and shares two sons \u2014 Dutton and Baker<\/a> \u2014 with the country singer.<\/p>\n \u201cPersonally, I hear her say love now, maybe, feels differently for her than it did back on her time on the show. And I go, \u2018I\u2019m glad. Like, you\u2019re married with kids. I\u2019m married, like, yes, love does feel different,\u2019\u201d Higgins added. \u201cI\u2019m glad you\u2019re in love with your husband more than you liked me \u2014 or if you liked me at all, like, I\u2019m just glad you like him, like, that\u2019s cool. That seems to be a really good thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
