Their estrangement has been painful. In January, while promoting his bombshell-filled memoir, Spare<\/i><\/a>, Prince Harry <\/b><\/a>admitted it had been \u201ca while\u201d since he\u2019d spoken to his brother, Prince William<\/b><\/a>, and their father, King Charles III<\/b><\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cBut I look forward to us being able to find peace,\u201d Harry said on 60 Minutes<\/i>. The last time the three royals were seen in public together was nearly a year ago at the late Queen Elizabeth II<\/a>\u2019s committal service<\/a>. And though Harry attended Charles\u2019 coronation in May, the monarch, William and their wives didn\u2019t interact with him at all, says a palace source: \u201cThe wounds are just too Depp to be easily healed.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n But there\u2019s hope. \u201cWilliam wants to extend an olive branch to Harry,\u201d the insider reveals. \u201cIt\u2019s a shocking about-face, but he feels it\u2019s long overdue.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n There\u2019s a big hurdle to overcome, however: Princess Kate<\/b><\/a>. \u201cShe feels that Harry and especially Meghan have done enough damage to the royal family<\/a>, and will do even more damage if they\u2019re let back in. She\u2019ll never forgive Meghan for what she did.\u201d<\/p>\n The rift between the brothers started in 2018 before Harry, 38, married Meghan, 42, and widened when the couple left the royal family and moved to America in 2020. Things became even more contentious as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared their side of the story in an explosive 2021 CBS interview.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Then came their 2022 Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan<\/i>, and, most recently, Harry\u2019s book. Through it all, William and Kate remained dignified and silent. But privately they\u2019ve been grappling with feelings of hurt and betrayal, the source says.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cKate has drawn a hard line in the sand \u2014 she\u2019s not changing her mind about them,\u201d the insider explains. \u201cThey never apologized for their lies. But it\u2019s harder for William because Harry is his brother. It\u2019s a horrible situation all around.\u201d<\/p>\n William and Kate, both 41, disagree with Harry\u2019s claims that they were unwelcoming to Meghan when he brought her into the royal fold. \u201cThe future king and queen feel like they did everything in their power to form a bond with Meghan and Harry, but she isolated him and put up walls,\u201d says the source. \u201cWilliam and Kate have gone back and forth trying to figure out where they went wrong, but at a certain point, they had to step back and stop blaming themselves.
