Raven-Symon\u00e9<\/strong><\/a> opened up about undergoing multiple plastic surgery procedures during her days as a child star.<\/p>\n \u201cI had two breast reductions and lipo before I turned 18,\u201d Raven, 37, revealed on the Monday, August 7, episode of her and wife Miranda Maday<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s \u201cThe Best Podcast Ever\u201d podcast<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019ve never said it [before]. I never shared it.\u201d<\/p>\n She went on to note that \u201cthere was paperwork involved,\u201d as she was still a minor at the time of her procedures. \u201cMy dad suggested strongly that I should get my breasts reduced. And he was like, \u2018So you don\u2019t feel bad, is there anything that you want?\u2019\u201d Raven shared. \u201cI was like, \u2018Yeah, if I get lipo, will people stop calling me fat?\u2019 And so, I got a twofer.\u201d<\/p>\n The first surgery, however, came with some complications. Raven had a seizure<\/a> upon waking up from anesthesia, recalling, \u201cI remember waking up and seeing everything \u2026 and then I just started to have this dry mouth and couldn\u2019t breathe. And then, I went back under and they were like, \u2018Oh, yeah, you had a seizure.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Raven stated that the whole thing \u201cwas just a mess,\u201d but having to experience a painful recovery at such a young age was especially challenging. \u201cI have scars. I still have scar tissue to this day,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd I gained weight after and had to, like, go back for a quick little, like, [get] a little bit more out \u2018cause [my breasts] were still too big for others\u2019 feelings.\u201d<\/p>\n Raven did not specify how old she was when her surgeries occurred. She was around the age of 18 when her hit Disney Channel<\/a> series, That\u2019s So Raven<\/em>, and the first The Cheetah Girls<\/em><\/a> movie both premiered in 2003. Raven reprised her role as Galleria in the 2005 sequel, The Cheetah Girls 2<\/em>, before That\u2019s So Raven<\/em> concluded in 2007 after five seasons.<\/p>\n Over the years, Raven has been open about her experiences with both weight loss and gain<\/a>. In May 2021, she revealed via Instagram that she had dropped nearly 30 pounds<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cYou see that chin? If y\u2019all watch Raven\u2019s Home<\/em> literally right now, and then come on this live and see this joint, I got a whole different face going on,\u201d she said at the time. \u201cIt\u2019s a whole pounds down journey.\u201d<\/p>\n She later clarified that her goal was not to look like \u201ca little twig,\u201d<\/a> explaining on a June 2021 episode of Good Morning America<\/em><\/a>, \u201cI\u2019m not trying to be, like, \u2018Oh, my God, look at me.\u2019 I have a goal in mind and it\u2019s not just weight loss, it\u2019s really complete body health. \u2026 I don\u2019t try to speak for anybody else.\u201d<\/p>\n The following month, Raven revealed that her relationship with Maday, 35 \u2014 whom she married in June 2020<\/a> \u2014 served as motivation<\/a> to help her lose weight.<\/p>\n Sign up for Us Weekly’s free, daily newsletter<\/a> and never miss breaking news or exclusive stories about your favorite celebrities, TV shows and more!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThis was because we want to have a life together,\u201d she told E!
