Wayne Brady<\/a><\/strong> came out as pansexual during a People<\/a><\/em> magazine interview Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn doing my research, both with myself and just with the world, I couldn\u2019t say if I was bisexual, because I had to really see what that was, especially because I really have not gotten a chance to act on anything,\u201d Brady told the magazine.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, I came to pansexual because \u2014 and I know that I\u2019m completely messing up the dictionary meaning \u2014 but to me, pan means being able to be attracted to anyone who identifies as gay, straight, bi, transsexual or non-binary. Being able to be attracted across the board. And, I think, at least for me for right now, that is the proper place. I took pan to mean that not only can I be attracted to any of these people or types physically, but I could be attracted to the person that is there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brady, who is known for his time on the Whose Line Is It Anyway?<\/em> game show and The Wayne Brady Show<\/em> variety show is currently filming a reality TV show with his daughter, Maile<\/strong>, and ex-wife, Mandi Taketa<\/strong>, and his ex-wife\u2019s family. Brady said he first came out to Taketa.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just said, \u2018Great,\u2019\u201d Taketa told People. \u201cAs I knew coming out would help him be happier.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brady\u2019s daughter was also fine with it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just said, \u2018Okay,\u2019\u201d Maile said.<\/p>\n

Brady also told the magazine that he\u2019s been attracted to men before but never dated men.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s be really honest: I\u2019ve also been attracted to certain men in my life, but I\u2019ve always pushed that aside because of how I was raised, and because I live in today\u2019s world, and it\u2019s scary as s\u2015t,\u201d he said. \u201cWhat\u2019s the fastest way to hurt another man? I\u2019m gonna call you out of your name. I\u2019m gonna call you gay. I\u2019m gonna emasculate you. I\u2019m gonna use the F-word. I learned that very early from the people around me, they\u2019re like, \u201cOh, so those are bad things? Yeah. You, you don\u2019t wanna be that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brady said that Robin Williams<\/strong>\u2019 death in 2014 affected him and made him start learning about mental health and that, while he said he has never been suicidal, he has empathy for people who are. He said he went to therapy and was treated for \u201clove addiction,\u201d in which he was looking for happiness in other people.<\/p>\n

\u201cI got to a point where I thought, \u2018I\u2019m not here, then whatever this pain is, whatever this loneliness is, this soul-crushing loneliness, I could stop it. I could be absolutely pain-free of whatever this is inside of me.\u2019 And when I felt that, I went, \u2018Oh, s\u2015t. Okay, let\u2019s get to the bottom of it. Let\u2019s do it now.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Brady said he is single right now but is an \u201copen-minded pansexual\u201d and is trying to be the best Brady he can be.<\/p>\n
