The FBI is investigating a ransomware attack that shut down emergency rooms in several states (via The Guardian<\/em><\/a>). Ambulances were diverted while California-based Prospect Medical Holdings, which has hospitals in several states, \u201ctook our systems offline to protect them\u201d and launched an investigation in partnership with \u201cthird party cybersecurity specialists,\u201d it said in a statement to multiple outlets. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n The ECHN has closed facilities<\/a> like diagnostics labs and elective surgery centers, as well as portions of its network devoted to gastroenterology, podiatry, urgent care, women\u2019s wellness, and more. The hospital network posted<\/a> on Twitter, which is rebranding as X, that it would be contacting patients:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n New Haven field office head Robert Fuller said the agency is \u201cworking closely with law enforcement partners<\/a> and the victim entities to address the issues,\u201d reported WTNH News 8. <\/em>The CBS News <\/em>report says the FBI encourages<\/a> anyone who may be affected \u201cto report ic3.gov or your local FBI field office,\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Yesterday, the US Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency CISA debuted<\/a> its FY2024-2026 Cybersecurity Plan<\/a>, which it says will \u201cchange the trajectory of our national security risk\u201d by calling for \u201cfoundational shifts\u201d to get ahead of cybercriminals. The plan\u2019s seeks to address immediate threats by disrupting cyberattack campaigns and mitigating exploits; harden systems against attack by offering organizations security investment guidance; and incentivize tech companies to pursue secure-by-default products<\/a> and adopt transparent security practices.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
