Ricky Martin<\/a><\/strong> is opening up about his recent split from his 38-year-old husband, Jwan Yosef<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 51-year-old singer recently spoke with Telemundo<\/a>\u2018s Lourdes Collazo and confessed that his separation from Yosef started before the pandemic.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the public found out, we had already gone through a grieving process,\u201d said Martin in the interview, which Hola!<\/a><\/em> translated. \u201cJwan and I will always be family. We have two children that we are going to raise together, and this is not a recent decision. We have been planning this situation for a long time, it\u2019s pre-pandemic.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFor some time, we have considered transforming our relationship, and it is after careful consideration that we have decided to end our marriage with love, respect and dignity for our children \u2014 preserving and honoring what we have experienced as a couple all of these wonderful years,\u201d read the statement in both English and Spanish.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur greatest desire now it to continue having a health family dynamic and a relationship centered on our genuine friendship as we continue the joint upbringing of our children,\u201d the statement continued. \u201cAs always, we thank you for all the love and support we received throughout our marriage. We are united in nurturing this new chapter in our lives. Ricky and Jwan.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although the couple decided to end their marriage, Martin told the outlet they are doing great.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe look into each other\u2019s eyes and smile, we hug each other, and we go through the ups and downs, we cry together, and we laugh together,\u201d he said of his relationship with his ex, ensuring they are \u201cbetter than ever.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy children never saw a fight between Jwan and me,\u201d he noted. \u201cThat\u2019s why it\u2019s like, \u2018Are you going to divorce, are you going to separate, how?\u2019 Because we resolved our differences with a good talk, maybe in our room.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for how the kids took the breakup, Martin said, \u201cWhen we told them, it was like, \u2018Well, Dad, are you OK, are you happy? Is this the decision? Don\u2019t do it for us, we\u2019re OK.’\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked if he\u2019s open to marriage again, the \u201cLivin\u2019 La Vida Loca\u201d singer joked, \u201cTake it easy! It was seven or eight years (with Jwan). I want to have a good time, I want to enjoy life\u2026 Let\u2019s take it easy, but yes, I do see myself in another relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n
