The Summer I Turned Pretty<\/em><\/a> has made a statement by using Taylor Swift<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s discography to highlight pivotal moments throughout the seasons.<\/p>\n Viewers \u2014 and longtime fans of the original book series<\/a> \u2014 were in for a fun surprise when season 1 introduced Belly (Lola Tung<\/strong><\/a>)\u2019s crush on Conrad (Christopher Briney<\/strong><\/a>) with the help of Swift\u2019s iconic \u201cLover\u201d track.<\/p>\n Creator Jenny Han later opened up about how the show\u2019s fanbase influenced<\/a> the soundtrack.<\/p>\n \u201cI think for me just as a fan, to be able to give the book fans that moment is what is really meaningful to me, because if you\u2019re a fan of The Summer I Turned Pretty<\/em>, I\u2019m pretty sure you\u2019re a fan of Taylor Swift,\u201d Han told The Wrap<\/em> in June 2022. \u201cAnd I know this because so many fans have asked me to put her music on the show and I just never knew if we were going to be able to or not.
