No, it still isn\u2019t over for The Notebook<\/i><\/a> \u2014 because its Broadway debut <\/a>is inching closer.<\/p>\n \u201cI can\u2019t believe I\u2019m saying this. The @notebookmusical is going to Broadway! We begin previews Feb 6 and open March 14 at the Shoenfeld [Theatre],\u201d Ingrid Michaelson<\/strong><\/a>, who penned the music and lyrics for the production, wrote via Instagram<\/a> on Thursday, August 3. \u201cJust typing that makes my heart race. Musical theater has always been in my bones. But to be able to create a musical with @funstetter as my copilot, @carmiedean as my musical guide and #MichaelGreif and @schelewilliams directing has been an adventure I never knew I could have.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued: \u201cAnd many more amazing humans! I hope to see you at the theater<\/a>. I\u2019ll be the one clapping the loudest, laughing the loudest and probably crying the loudest.\u201d<\/p>\n Michaelson, 43, also included the first images from the show, which featured an illustrated man and woman, painted in watercolors, embracing in an almost-kiss. The singer\u2019s Instagram upload also featured several behind-the-scenes snaps as she joined her fellow writers and the directors, Michael Greif<\/strong> and Schele Williams<\/strong>, inside the Great White Way theater for the first time. A cast for The Notebook<\/i> has yet to be announced.<\/p>\n Michaelson, who is currently dating Broadway veteran Will Chase<\/strong><\/a>, announced in January 2019 that she was working on a script for a musical based on the 2004 movie<\/a>. (Ryan Gosling<\/strong><\/a> and Rachel McAdams<\/strong><\/a>\u2019 film was adapted from Nicholas Sparks<\/strong><\/a>\u2019 best-selling novel.)<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m writing a musical \u2026 and the musical is The Notebook<\/i>,\u201d Michaelson revealed while cohosting Today<\/i><\/a> with Hoda Kotb<\/strong><\/a>. \u201cI haven\u2019t been able to say it in so long \u2026 and the book is being written by Bekah Brunstetter<\/strong>, who is a writer at This Is Us<\/i><\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n The musician continued at the time: \u201cI\u2019ve been writing for about a year and a half, so it\u2019s been a long process for me but it\u2019s been slowly building. \u2026 It\u2019s so different when you\u2019re writing for a character, when you\u2019re writing for these other people, than when you\u2019re writing about yourself<\/a> and your emotions. So, it\u2019s been really interesting and really different for me to write from these perspectives.\u201d<\/p>\n Michaelson continued documenting her writing process via social media before the production\u2019s tryout run in Chicago last year.
