Martin Sensmeier<\/strong>, for his part, had a five-episode arc in Yellowstone<\/em> as Monica Dutton\u2019s (Kelsey Asbille<\/strong><\/a>) physical therapist on season 2. While the pair had major sexual tension, Monica\u2019s fleeting feelings for Martin ultimately led her back to Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes<\/strong><\/a>).<\/p>\n

Several years later, Sensmeier joined the cast of 1883<\/em>, a Yellowstone<\/em> origin story that followed James Dutton (Tim McGraw<\/strong>) and Margaret Dutton (Faith Hill<\/strong>)<\/a> as they attempted to travel from Tennessee to Oregon \u2014 before settling in Montana \u2014 with kids Elsa Dutton (Isabel May<\/strong>) and John Dutton Sr. (Audie Rick<\/strong>). In 1883, which aired for one season in late 2021 and early 2022, Sensmeier appeared as Elsa\u2019s second love interest, a Comanche Warrior named Sam.<\/p>\n

Sensmeier isn\u2019t the only familiar face in 1883. Dawn Olivieri<\/strong><\/a>, who started appearing on Yellowstone<\/em> in season 5 in 2022<\/a>, portrayed a member of the OG Dutton family \u2014 James\u2019 sister Claire \u2014 for two episodes in the prequel series.<\/p>\n

Cole Hauser<\/strong><\/a>, meanwhile, has been on the original show since its 2018 premiere on Paramount Network, starring as fan-favorite character Rip Wheeler.<\/a> In November 2022, the actor confirmed to Entertainment Tonight<\/em><\/a> that he has a role in 1883: The Bass Reeves Story,<\/em> a six-part series starring David Oyelowo<\/strong> as the man who is believed to be the inspiration for The Lone Ranger.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m switching it up on ya. This is for a role that I did in 1883<\/em>,\u201d Hauser told the outlet about his facial hair for the gig, adding that Rip isn\u2019t going anywhere. \u201c[I\u2019ll play Rip] as long as Taylor continues to write [him] like a badass that he is.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hauser echoed his remarks at the Golden Globes in January 2023, telling Us Weekly<\/em> that he doesn\u2019t \u201csee an end in sight.\u201d However, when it does wrap up, he hopes Rip and Beth will end up happily \u201csitting on a porch\u201d as man and wife.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think they love each other too much [to ever split],\u201d he added of onscreen wife Kelly Reilly<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s character. \u201cThey\u2019re meant to be together.\u201d<\/p>\n
