Love Is Blind<\/em><\/a> alum Nick Thompson<\/strong> has claimed he\u2019s falling on some very hard times. After losing his job, the reality TV alum has revealed that he is on the brink of homelessness after appearing on the Netflix<\/a> show, additionally claiming he was \u201cexploited\u201d by the streaming service.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen you think about the amount of money that\u2019s being made, and the way that it\u2019s the path for future seasons, and the fact that anyone can go on and watch me \u2026 and I\u2019m going to be homeless,\u201d the season 2 star, 38, in a Tuesday, August 1, interview.<\/p>\n Nick added that his appearance on\u00a0Love Is Blind<\/i>\u00a0has made it hard for him to find work. \u201cI lost my job last November. \u2026 I burned through my savings that cashed out my 401(k). I\u2019ve got two months left in the bank to pay my mortgage. I can\u2019t get a job because people don\u2019t take me seriously.\u201d<\/p>\n He went on to explain, \u201cI was a VP in software for five years, so it\u2019s not like I don\u2019t have track record of experience or success.\u201d<\/p>\n Nick said he was only paid $10,000 for 10 weeks of filming despite being on camera \u201c18 to 20 hours a day. And that doesn\u2019t that necessarily mean that you\u2019re always going to be on TV, but you\u2019re mic\u2019d up from the moment you get there in the morning, and you\u2019re mic\u2019d up all the way until you leave,\u201d he claimed.<\/p>\n The podcaster approximated he was making less than minimum wage, as Nick\u00a0 The former reality star went on to say he felt like a \u201cprisoner\u201d during\u00a0Love Is Blind\u2019<\/em>s filming. In addition to the long hours, Nick further claimed, \u201cWhen you go home at the end of the day, you\u2019re locked in your hotel room without a key, without your wallet, without money, without identification. You literally are held captive like a prisoner and there is absolutely no reason that you shouldn\u2019t be considered an employee when you\u2019re technically under the control of your employer for 24 hours a day.\u201d<\/p>\n As for why he didn\u2019t quit the show, Nick revealed he was contractually obligated to appear or risk having to pay $50,000 in damages.<\/p>\n \u201cI wish I could just go back to having a nice life that I had built for myself, instead of wondering whether my mortgage is gonna get paid,\u201d he admitted, adding about reality TV, \u201cIt\u2019s a brutal, brutal, brutal industry.\u201d He has since launched the Unscripted Cast Advocacy Network, with the intention of providing mental health support and legal aide to reality stars.<\/p>\n Nick found love on the program, marrying\u00a0Danielle Ruhl<\/b>. She filed for divorce in August 2022 after one year of marriage. Both have been open about how the stresses of production and leaving the confines of the show caused mental health issues<\/a>. with Danielle specifically claiming that she had a panic attack while filming and hid in a closet to evade producers.<\/p>\n \u201cI kept telling them, \u2018I don\u2019t trust myself. I\u2019ve tried committing suicide before,’\u201d she claimed as part of a catastrophic Business Insider<\/em> article published in April. \u201c\u2018I\u2019m having suicidal thoughts. I don\u2019t think I can continue this.’\u201d<\/p>\n The two reunited on Nick\u2019s \u201cEyes Wide Open<\/a>\u201d podcast on May 30, where Danielle, 29, confessed, \u201cWe lived through all of it together, but no one else in the world, even my friends \u2014 everyone else that was on the show \u2014 none of them had the experience that we did,\u201d adding, \u201cAnd that\u2019s why it was so hard to not be able to find comfort with anyone.
