\u201cHOLY SMOKES SHITBALLS,\u201d Britney Spears<\/strong> wrote on Instagram<\/a> late last night, in response to media coverage of her activity this weekend. This was part of a two-pronged response by Spears and her husband Sam Asghari<\/strong> after a few days of somewhat strange public and social media behavior.\u00a0<\/p>\n To sum it up as briefly as possible: Spears and Asghari went out for a meal at the upscale chain restaurant JOEY (the Woodland Hills outpost, where the pork dumpling appetizers cost \u201c14 1\/4<\/a>\u201d) and were met with members of the public who felt it necessary to take cell phone videos of them.\u00a0<\/p>\n From there it gets a little confusing. TMZ\u2019s initial report<\/a> said that Spears\u2019s reaction \u201cwas manic\u201d and she began talking in gibberish. Asghari was said to have stormed out in a huff, leaving the pop icon alone (with her bodyguard) for two minutes, and speaking \u201cnot another language, just unrecognizable speech.\u201d There\u2019s video of her alone at the table (covering her face with her menu) but considering just how loud it is at this place it is a little unclear who, if anyone, is babbling in an unknown tongue. You can watch\u00a0for yourself.<\/p>\n After this made news, and sparked discussion on social media, Spears made some curious posts on Instagram. One was of an illustration of a woman at a restaurant declaring \u201cThey told me I couldn\u2019t\/that\u2019s why I did\u201d and another was a dance routine replete with middle fingers to the tune of \u201cI Touch Myself\u201d by the Divinyls. As we wrote yesterday<\/a>, these were, indeed, isolated moments that could come across as peculiar, but whether it was evidence of a larger \u201cmeltdown,\u201d as described by outlets like the New York Post<\/em><\/a> and the Daily Mail<\/em><\/a>, is open to debate.<\/p>\n On Sunday, Asghari told TMZ<\/a> that this was a mountain out of a molehill. He explained that when going out sometimes \u201cpeople are a little too excited to see my wife,\u201d while miming a cell phone snap. \u201cFame comes with the territory,\u201d he shrugged, adding that he simply went to get the car to get the hell out of there\u2014he did not storm out or abandon Spears. \u201cIt is what it is, man,\u201d he added, agreeing that being filmed while trying to have a meal is disrespectful, but \u201cit comes with the territory and that\u2019s it.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n He also wrote<\/a> \u201cDon\u2019t believe what you read online people\u201d on his Instagram Stories.
