Although she was best known for her family\u2019s music group, The Osmonds, Marie still made a name for herself as a solo pop and country artist<\/a>. One of her most popular hit singles was her remake of the country song \u201cPaper Roses,\u201d originally written by\u00a0Fred Spielman<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0Janice Torre<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In terms of business endeavors, Marie became known for her porcelain doll QVC line, which was first released in 1991. The\u00a0Behind My Smile: My Journey Out<\/i>\u00a0author designed the dolls herself and branched out to selling them in retail stores as well.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Why Won\u2019t Marie Leave Her Kids an Inheritance?<\/h2>\n

\u201cHonestly, why would you enable your child to not try to be something?\u201d she asked the outlet. \u201cI don\u2019t know anybody who becomes anything if they\u2019re just handed money. To me, the greatest gift you can give your child is a passion to search out who they are inside and to work. I mean, I\u2019ve done so many things from designing dolls [and much more]. I love trying [and] I wanna try everything. I\u2019m a finisher.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The Grammy nominee shares son Stephen with her husband,\u00a0Steve Craig<\/b>, in addition to children Rachael, Jessica, Brandon, Brianna, Matthew and Abigail with ex-husband\u00a0Brian Blosil<\/b>. Marie and Brian lost their son, Michael, in February 2010 when he died by suicide.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s one of my rules with my kids. If you start it, you finish it, you don\u2019t ever have to do it again, but you gotta finish,\u201d Marie continued. \u201cAnd, I just think all [an inheritance] does is breed laziness and entitlement. I worked hard, and I\u2019m gonna spend it all and have fun with my husband.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

This wasn\u2019t the first time, however, when Marie spoke about the concept of an inheritance. In February 2020, the Country Music Association Award winner revealed during an episode of The Talk<\/i> that she didn\u2019t want to leave behind a large sum of cash for her kids.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI think you do a great disservice to your children to just hand them a fortune because you take away the one most important gift you can give your children, and that\u2019s the ability to work,\u201d Marie explained at the time. \u201cYou see it a lot in rich families where the kids, they don\u2019t know what to do, and so, they get in trouble. Let them be proud of what they make.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
