After rumors surfaced that Katy Perry<\/a><\/strong> wouldn\u2019t return to American Idol<\/a><\/strong><\/em> as a judge alongside Luke Bryan<\/a><\/strong> and Lionel Richie<\/a><\/strong>, a big update has arrived regarding the singer\u2019s status.<\/p>\n

Today ABC revealed that judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan will be returning<\/a>, as will host Ryan Seacrest<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Lionel, Katy and Luke have been judges since 2018, when the show went from airing on FOX to ABC. Ryan has been hosting since day one, but fans weren\u2019t sure if he would return after he landed the coveted Wheel of Fortune<\/em> host<\/a> spot when Pat Sajak<\/a><\/strong> announced his retirement earlier this summer.<\/p>\n

Katy was also a huge question mark, or so we thought after rumors started swirling that she wanted to \u201cquit\u201d the show, with reports claiming she didn\u2019t like the way producers were portraying her to viewers.<\/p>\n

The show\u2019s fans were thrilled with the news that their favorites would be returning. \u201cYesss! Great judges,\u201d one person wrote. \u201cSo excited for Season 7 and the judges,\u201d said another.<\/p>\n

And they were pleased about Katy\u2019s return. \u201cYesssss!!!!!!! I am so happy Katy is coming back,\u201d one person said. \u201cKaty \ud83d\ude0d,\u201d said another. \u201cI love Katy and am happy she\u2019s back! She makes me entertaining and I love how they all interact,\u201d someone else wrote.<\/p>\n

According to the post, season 22 will return in the spring of 2024. In the meantime, auditions are happening now!<\/p>\n
