Sigourney Weaver<\/a> is overjoyed her non-binary child didn\u2019t go into acting \u2013 and is instead \u201cexcited\u201d about the possibilities of artificial intelligence. <\/p>\n

The \u2018Aliens\u2019 actress, 73, has Char, 33, with her theatre director husband Jim Simpson, 67 \u2013 who she married in 1984 \u2013 and first revealed how they identified in December. <\/p>\n

She has now told the Sunday Times about their only child and their career direction: \u201cThey are non-binary. They teach at Columbia, digital storytelling, bots, misinformation, they are someone who is excited about AI and not frightened about it. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey were not at all interested in doing what I do. That made my husband and me very happy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sigourney said on the \u2018Smartless\u2019 podcast with hosts Will Arnett<\/a>, Sean Hayes and Jason Bateman about life with her husband: \u201cWe have a wonderful daughter who\u2019s now 32 \u2013 I don\u2019t know how, she still looks 12… in fact, they\u2019re non-binary and they teach.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nThe actress told The Guardian in 2010 being a mum is \u201cabsolutely the most important thing\u201d in her life. <\/p>\n

\nShe added: \u201cMy family comes first and I\u2019m so grateful to them that they let me go off and make films. <\/p>\n

\n\u201cBut, you know, I find it very difficult to leave them. I hate it. I have had therapy and found it helpful in dealing with the guilt I\u2019ve felt about leaving them. <\/p>\n

\n\u201cGoing to New Zealand to make \u2018Avatar\u2019 when my (child) was applying to colleges almost killed me.\u201d <\/p>\n

\nShe said she \u201cwould have loved\u201d to have expanded her family further, but added \u201cthere are no regrets now because I feel so fortunate that I have one \u2013 I didn\u2019t get married (until) I was 34\u201d. <\/p>\n

\nSigourney added: \u201cI didn\u2019t want to have children right away. You get the hand you\u2019re dealt, and it took me a long time when I did want a second child, to just wake up and go, \u2018Why aren\u2019t I enjoying the child I have?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
