Reading Rainbow<\/em> host Mychal Threets<\/strong><\/a> is sharing an update on his mental health, admitting he believes he is \u201crunning out of time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople keep on saying, \u2018Michael, I\u2019m glad to see you\u2019re doing well. I\u2019m glad to see you\u2019re OK.\u2019 But I\u2019m not doing well. I\u2019m not OK. But I believe that\u2019s OK, because I\u2019m trying my best,\u201d the TikTok-famous librarian said in an Instagram<\/a> video on Saturday, October 10, to mark World Mental Health Day.<\/p>\n

Threets, 36, continued, \u201cMy brain is very loud. My feelings are very big. I believe I am running out of time. I don\u2019t know how much time I have left. But I\u2019m going to keep on trying to find joy each and every day. No matter what happens, I believe joy is out there for me. Joy is there for you. I am going to pursue joy relentlessly with all the time I have left. I don\u2019t know what tomorrow has in store; I haven\u2019t met tomorrow yet, but I have hope.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to see you at the library, at the bookstore, in the world where we all belong,\u201d he went on. \u201cI want to stay. I\u2019m trying to stay. I am asking for help. I am asking for joy. I am seizing hope I\u2019m on a journey to OK, to keep on to tomorrow, each and every day. I\u2019m trying to stay, and I\u2019m thankful for you. Thank you for trying. Thank you for staying. We\u2019re still here.\u201d<\/p>\n

In August, Threets sparked concern with a cryptic Threads post announcing that he was seeking medical treatment.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am not okay. Maybe I\u2019ll never be okay. I\u2019m seeking help. Going to the hopital [sic] tomorrow. In this moment I am safe. By God\u2019s grace,\u201d he wrote at the time. \u201cNo matter what happens to me I will always be thankful for the extraordinary people in my life who worry, who help me. Thank you for your care. I will always love you. \ud83d\udc9a\u201d<\/p>\n

Later that month, Threets updated his fans<\/a> and followers on his well-being, revealing that he had completed a psychiatric hold for his mental health.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just wanted to apologize for worrying so many people,\u201d Threets said in a video shared via Threads on August 22. \u201cI just got back from a five-day stay at the hospital, a five-day psychiatric hold. I haven\u2019t been OK for what feels like a very, very long time. I am not OK. But I have hope that I will get to OK.\u201d<\/p>\n
