More details have emerged about the death of late Breaking Bad<\/em><\/a> star and activist RJ Mitte<\/strong><\/a> at age 34.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Mitte confirmed to People<\/em><\/a> late on Monday, October 12, that he\u2019d died by suicide in Texas earlier in the day.<\/p>\n

The Brownsville Police Department told the outlet that its officers responded to an emergency call at around 12:50 p.m. local time. Investigators found Mitte dead when they arrived at his residence.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe cause and manner of death are still pending, as there is currently an ongoing investigation,\u201d a police spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

Us<\/em> has reached out to Mitte\u2019s rep and the Brownsville Police Department for comment.<\/p>\n

Earlier on Monday, Mitte\u2019s rep paid tribute to his career and work as a disability rights advocate in a statement to Us<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate disability rights advocate RJ Mitte,\u201d they said. \u201cDrawing from his own experience living with cerebral palsy, Mitte brought authenticity to the [Breaking Bad<\/em>] role and built a platform on disability awareness and inclusion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mitte was diagnosed with cerebral palsy (CP) when he was 3 years old. The Mayo Clinic<\/a> describes CP as \u201ca group of conditions that affect movement, balance and posture,\u201d often caused by \u201cdamage that occurs to a baby\u2019s brain.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBeyond entertaining friends and family around the world, he served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children\u2019s,\u201d his rep said in Monday\u2019s statement. \u201cHe also served as president of The Mitte Foundation, supporting philanthropic efforts and community initiatives, while using his platform to challenge stereotypes and promote greater representation for people with disabilities.\u201d<\/p>\n

His spokesperson asked that the public \u201crespect the privacy of RJ Mitte\u2019s family and close ones\u201d as they grieve.<\/p>\n

Mitte was best known for playing Bryan Cranston<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s onscreen son on the acclaimed series Breaking Bad<\/em> throughout all five seasons. His character, Walter \u201cFlynn\u201d White Jr., also had CP, though a more severe form.<\/p>\n

He later had a recurring role on Switched at Birth<\/em> and played one of the leads on Netflix\u2019s superhero series The Guardians of Justice<\/em>. Mitte also costarred with Wesley Snipes<\/strong><\/a> in 2017 sci-fi movie The Recall<\/em> and, more recently, appeared with American Horror Story<\/em>\u2018s Finn Wittrock<\/strong><\/a> in the 2025 drama Westhampton<\/em>, which premiered at the Tribeca Festival.<\/p>\n
