Ben Affleck has praised his ex-wife<\/p>\n
The 54-year-old actor has Violet, 20, Seraphina, 17, and Samuel, 14, with Jennifer, his ex-wife, and Ben has joked about his own parenting skills in comparison to the actress.<\/p>\n
During an appearance on Sunday Today with Willie Geist, Ben – who was married to Jennifer between 2005 and 2018 – explained: “Their mom is spectacular, and it always makes me feel like I\u2019m coming up a little short.”<\/p>\n
Ben joked that he tells his kids that he’s “doing about 75 percent as good as [their] mom”.<\/p>\n
\t\t\t<\/p>\n
The Hollywood star added: “They\u2019re like, \u2018Maybe 40 percent’. I\u2019m maxing out. Woo, B+!”<\/p>\n
\nBen subsequently explained that in spite of their break-up, he’s retained huge respect for Jennifer and her parenting skills.<\/p>\n
\nThe actor-turned-director – who was married to Jennifer Lopez between 2022 and 2025 – shared: “I respect her. I think the most important thing is having that mutual respect \u2014 being able to get along with that person.”<\/p>\n
\nEarlier this year, Jennifer also heaped praise on Ben, describing her ex-husband as an “incredible co-parent”.<\/p>\n
\nThe actress told Entertainment Weekly in July: “My kids are a little bigger [now]. Their dad \u2026 has become this incredible coparent. And I have this unbelievable [business] partner who produces with me things that we control and are able to help keep in L.A. \u2026 I love making movies anywhere, but I really want to make movies at home.”<\/p>\n
\nJennifer subsequently hailed Ben as a “great” co-parent.<\/p>\n
\nThe movie star said: “He\u2019s wonderful. He takes care of them. He\u2019s a great partner in that way. And that\u2019s very freeing.”<\/p>\n
\nPrior to that, Ben explained why he separates his work from his personal life.<\/p>\n
\nThe actor also described divorce as an “excruciatingly painful” experience.<\/p>\n
\nHe told USA Today newspaper: “I know there\u2019s a tendency to watch actors \u2013 particularly when you have a lot of things you associate with the actor, that\u2019s sort of our baggage \u2014 and sort of project those things onto them.<\/p>\n
\n“The truth is, really, it\u2019s not as correlative as you would think, except for the sense that you\u2019ve got to have lived life to be able to relive it authentically.<\/p>\n
\n“The circumstances of divorce with children is facing something that\u2019s excruciatingly painful. People can identify with that if they\u2019ve been through it. And as an actor, it\u2019s your job to find something that\u2019s related to that. <\/p>\n
\n“Weirdly, as an actor, if you actually think about the exact moments that correlate to the exact thing, it\u2019s too literal, and it sort of doesn\u2019t work.”<\/p>\n
