The Game of Thrones star told Marie Claire UK magazine that when it comes to social media, she\u2019s very much a \u201cpost and ghost\u201d kind of person. <\/p>\n
She explained: \u201cI do not partake of Instagram at all because within 30 seconds I’m miserable\u2026 Have I seen a picture of myself at the Emmys? No!<\/p>\n
\u201cAn algorithm isn’t going to keep you warm at night. It’s not going to give you your wildest dreams. It’s not gonna make you laugh. It’s not gonna support you.\u201d<\/p>\n
\t\t\t<\/p>\n
Emilia also blamed social media for compounding the pressure on women to look a certain way. <\/p>\n
\nShe sighed: \u201cThe expectations of image across the board, like for men and for women, is just completely untenable. You want us to look the\u00a0same? You want to just be a population of the same face and the same body? Come on, we’re human! We’re gonna change.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe difference, I think, is that still we in a society are going to criticise women faster than we will criticise men.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nAs for whether she\u2019s going to struggle landing roles when she\u2019s an ageing actress, Emilia admitted it \u201ckeeps me up at night\u201d. <\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cI try and work out how not to place my sense of worth on other people\u2019s sense of expectations or views. And it\u2019s really hard to do it. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe key to complete misery is comparison. I’m not saying I don’t do it, but I try and catch myself, and I try [to] find strength in who I am.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHowever, Emilia also admitted: \u201cI\u2019m unhealthily obsessed with what is to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe 39-year-old actress can next be seen making her National Theatre debut in Sir David Hare\u2019s landmark play called Plenty.<\/p>\n
\nAnd she said that she\u2019s become much more considered about the gigs she takes on.<\/p>\n
\nShe mused: \u201cI think the first 10 years of my career,\u00a0Game of Thrones\u00a0aside, was just an exercise in me saying yes because I didn’t know I could say no. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cSince then, I’ve become much more considered about my choices and about who it is that I’m working with. Because I want to\u00a0want\u00a0to go to work, and in my mind, the only way to do that is to work with people that you feel good about working with. \u201cThen if the job isn’t successful, [at least] you had a good time.\u201d<\/p>\n
