Billie Lourd ‘scared’ of how technology is impacting the world<\/p>\n
The 34-year-old actress has two children – Kingston, six, and three-year-old Jackson – with husband Austen Rydell. <\/p>\n
She can next be seen starring in the movie Artificial which, as the name suggests, chronicles the rapid rise of artificial intelligence, and spoke about her feelings surrounding her kids growing up in such a technologically advanced world. <\/p>\n
Billie said: \u201cI feel scared. I feel excited about aspects of it but scared about a lot of it. I send my kids to a school that doesn\u2019t really use iPads or technology as much because I think it\u2019s so important for kids to still handwrite and to read actual books that aren\u2019t on a Kindle and to hold books and learn how to write cursive.<\/p>\n
\t\t\t<\/p>\n
\u201cI really want them to be in the real world as much as possible. They learn woodworking at their school, and I think that kind of stuff is so important for kids.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nBillie added that she\u2019s unsure whether or not she should let her kids watch the film, but mused: \u201cI don\u2019t know, I might make my 6-year-old watch it. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cHe\u2019s gonna be like, \u2018What\u2019s going on?\u2019 but maybe next year he should watch it. Gotta start \u2018em young.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nBillie previously opened up about how she stays connected to her late mother Carrie Fisher, who died in 2016, and grandmother Debbie Reynolds, who died a day after Carrie – by raising her kids in the same house she grew up in. <\/p>\n
\nShe told The Sunday Times newspaper: “I\u2019m still in the house! It\u2019s the most incredible thing that I got to keep this house, because my mom and dad bought it together and I grew up there. <\/p>\n
\n“So my kids get to know my mom through this house because this house is my mom … Her energy is still in the house. And that really is such a gift.” <\/p>\n
\nBillie went on to explain she watches her mother and grandmother’s most famous movies with her kids to give them a sense of who they were. <\/p>\n
\nShe added: “We watch the movies. They love Singin’ in the Rain and they\u2019re already obsessed with Star Wars. <\/p>\n
\n“Some days it feels beautiful to watch them and some days it makes me feel really bummed they died when they did. Anyone who\u2019s lost someone can understand that. <\/p>\n
\n“OK, they\u2019re not usually watching a crazy sci-fi movie, but it\u2019s the same feeling you get from watching home movies.\u201d<\/p>\n
