Although the couple have been together for more than a decade after playing husband and wife on spy drama The Americans, they have no plans to tie the knot.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the Dear Chelsea podcast, Keri – – who has Sam, 10, with Matthew, and River, 19, and Willa, 14, from her previous marriage to Shane Deary – explained: \u201cI’ve had a big party. You know, I get to dress up all the time.<\/p>\n
\u201cI know for a lot of people, marriage is something different. People used to have to be married to have a credit card. We [women] can have credit cards now.<\/p>\n
\t\t\t<\/p>\n
\u201cI don’t need my last name to go away. Like, I’m cool, if you want to be here, be here. If you don’t, that’s cool too.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nKeri added: \u201cWe have kids, so like, that’s forever. To me, [marriage is] antiquated.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nKeri previously tied the knot with Shane Deary in 2007 and they split in 2013.<\/p>\n
\nMeanwhile, Keri also addressed the controversy over Matthew not thanking her in his recent Emmy Awards speeches, insisting they had a pact about it.<\/p>\n
\nThe 51-year-old actor came under fire after last month’s ceremony because he picked up both Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Widow’s Bay and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for The Beast in Me, but failed to mention his partner in his acceptance speech.<\/p>\n
\nHowever, Keri – who was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for The Diplomat but lost to Pluribus star Rhea Seehorn – revealed she told Matthew not to worry about thanking her in a bid to ease his nerves about the night.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cHe was just so nervous. I mean, we were all nervous. But it\u2019s a lot of pressure.<\/p>\n
\n“And we said to each other the week of, we\u2019re both nervous people. We\u2019re not in that world that much. We visit that world. So we were both so nervous.<\/p>\n
\n“And I looked at him a few days before and I said, \u2018Okay, well, can you articulate what you\u2019re most nervous about?\u2019 And he\u2019s like, \u2018Yeah, having to speak.\u2019 And I said, \u2018Totally.\u2019 And I said, \u2018Take me off your plate.\u2019<\/p>\n
\n\u201cLike, you don\u2019t have to thank me, I know you love me, take me off your plate. There\u2019s so many people you have to thank.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nKeri noted Matthew still gets a “hard time” from the people he omitted from his speech at the 2018 Emmy Awards, when he won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his performance in The Americans.<\/p>\n
\nShe added: \u201cPeople still give him a hard time because he didn\u2019t say their name. Like, it\u2019s so crazy. People get nuts. It\u2019s stupid and it\u2019s also lame.<\/p>\n
\n“So I said, \u2018Take me off your plate, that\u2019s not what this is.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI don\u2019t care if you want to thank the dog walker. You do whatever you want to do. That\u2019s your minute. That\u2019s your 45 seconds. So I just said, \u2018Take me off your plate.\u2019 And we kind of said to each other, \u2018We don\u2019t have to thank each other.\u2019 “<\/p>\n
