Nivea has announced her cancer is in remission<\/p>\n
The 44-year-old singer, whose full name is Nivea B. Hamilton, has given a positive health update after revealing just over two months ago that she had been diagnosed with leukaemia earlier in 2026.<\/p>\n
Appearing on The Tamron Hall Show this week, she said: “I’m very grateful. I couldn’t believe it because this happened to be this year, only a few months ago.”<\/p>\n
Although the Laundromat hitmaker knew the success rate of the medication she was taking, she noted how “everybody’s different”.<\/p>\n
\t\t\t<\/p>\n
She added: “It’s been an adjustment, like the symptoms. I’m tired a lot. I have other issues. I’m bleeding. I have fibroids.<\/p>\n
\n“It’s a long little list, but I’m still on the better side than most. I’m not complaining…I’m not complaining at all.”<\/p>\n
\nNivea, who was nominated for the Best R+B Performance prize at the 2003 Grammy Awards for her track Don’t Mess With My Man – revealed her diagnosis in late July.<\/p>\n
\nWhen asked what she is most thankful for on Cadillac Chronicles, she said: “Well, first of all, I was diagnosed with leukaemia earlier this year, and I\u2019m so grateful to God.<\/p>\n
\n“I\u2019ve been going through treatment, and everything is going great so far. And I expect it to continue. Amen, amen, amen.”<\/p>\n
\nThe singer revealed she was staying as positive as possible, and feels \u201cvery grateful for life”. <\/p>\n
\nShe added: \u201cIt\u2019s so cliche to say you don\u2019t know the time nor the hour, but it\u2019s true and it just helped me put a lot of things in perspective, and I live in gratitude, like, religiously, and I\u2019m just grateful for everything.”<\/p>\n
\nNivea – who has daughter Navy, 21, and 20-year-old twins London and Christian with ex-husband The-Dream and 16-year-old son Neal with former fianc\u00e9 Lil Wayne – revealed that as well as her family, she has other career goals to achieve.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cI\u2019m doing things I wanna do. I\u2019m definitely back into my music, and I\u2019m going to school for audio engineering. I\u2019ve always wanted to learn how to engineer, and mixing engineering in particular.<\/p>\n
\n“In general, I\u2019m just doing all the things, honey! I\u2019m loving all my children and just being grateful. I\u2019m taking every opportunity that comes my way!\u201d<\/p>\n
\nNivea dropped her self titled debut album in 2001, following up with Complicated in 2005, and Animalistic the next year.<\/p>\n
\nShe returned with Mirrors in 2019, one year after she teamed up with ex Lil Wayne on Dope New Gospel on his Tha Carter V album.<\/p>\n
