Jimmy Kimmel<\/a>, 58, Jessica said: \u201cWhen I\u2019m a little bit sassier than normal, people look at me like, shocked. Like they expect me to be soft and demure.\u201d<\/p>\n\nThe actress, who appeared on the programme wearing a black high-neck dress by Silvia Tcherassi and bright red lipstick, suggested people associated her previous red hair with a more outspoken personality.<\/p>\n
\nAsked about life as a blonde, Jessica joked: \u201cI will say, we do have a lot of fun.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShe then clarified: \u201cNo, I\u2019ve always had a lot of fun.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nJessica also explained the change was inspired by her appearance in The Off Weeks, an eight-part drama thriller in which she stars and serves as an executive producer alongside Ben Stiller, 60.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cI just played a part where I had a very similar hair color in a wig, and so I guess I got to test drive the hair for a few months.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nJessica added: \u201cAnd so I was like, alright, I\u2019m going for it.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe Apple TV+ production completed filming in the middle of 2026 and is undergoing post-production, although a release date has yet to be announced.<\/p>\n
\nThe series marks another television project for Jessica, who previously starred in the HBO drama Scenes from a Marriage opposite Oscar Isaac, 47.<\/p>\n
\nShe also appeared in the television adaptation of George and Tammy, portraying country music singer Tammy Wynette alongside Michael Shannon, 52, as George Jones.<\/p>\n
\nJessica won a Screen Actors Guild Award for her performance in the series, adding to the recognition she has received for portraying prominent and complicated women throughout her career.<\/p>\n
\nHer latest film, The Other Mommy, is another departure from the historical dramas and character studies for which she has become known.<\/p>\n
\nThe horror production is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on 9 October, adding to a career that has included major roles in Zero Dark Thirty, The Help, Molly\u2019s Game and Interstellar.<\/p>\n
\nJessica won the Academy Award for best actress for her portrayal of televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker in the 2021 biographical drama The Eyes of Tammy Faye.<\/p>\n
\nShe also appeared in Guillermo del Toro\u2019s Crimson Peak, the science-fiction blockbuster The Martian and the horror sequel It Chapter Two.<\/p>\n
\nIn an interview with Porter, the magazine published by luxury fashion retailer Net-a-Porter, Jessica discussed why she had previously resisted changing her natural colour.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cI have never dyed my hair \u2013 and it was such an experience.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe actress explained that her hesitation had been connected to concerns about damaging her hair rather than expectations surrounding her appearance.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cIt wasn\u2019t that I didn\u2019t dye my hair because I was worried about other people.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nJessica added: \u201cJust the worry of, like, \u2018Am I going to ruin my hair?\u2019 Now I just feel like, \u2018I\u2019ve never done this; I want to try it\u2019. It feels good to be a blonde.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHer transformation follows another significant change to her appearance earlier this year, when she had her long hair cut into a bob shortly before attending the 12th Breakthrough Prize ceremony.<\/p>\n
\nJessica documented the haircut in a behind-the-scenes Instagram video, showing the process undertaken by celebrity hairstylist Renato Campora.<\/p>\n
\nThe footage featured the actress before and after the appointment, with Renato creating the shorter style ahead of her red-carpet appearance.<\/p>\n
