David Krumholtz<\/strong><\/a> is getting back to work.<\/p>\n

After announcing that he was taking an “indefinite break” from acting<\/a> back in August, Deadline<\/a> revealed on Wednesday (October 7) that the 48-year-old actor has joined the cast of HBO’s upcoming limited series The Trial of Louise Woodward<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

From creator Matthew Barry<\/strong>, The Trial of Louise Woodward<\/em> “tells the shocking true story of how, in 1997, an 18-year-old British au pair was accused of shaking to death a baby left in her care by her American host family, setting off an international media firestorm as the trial unfolds in full view of both the British and American public.”<\/p>\n

David<\/strong> will be playing criminal defense attorney Harvey Silvergate.<\/p>\n

Why David Krumholtz Announced His Acting Break in August<\/h3>\n

Over the summer, David<\/strong> announced that he was “putting his acting career on hold”<\/a> for an indefinite amount of time as he admitted he was \u201cfed up\u201d by the entertainment industry.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am wildly grateful, as more than one of my biggest dreams have come true as a result of being an actor. Grateful to all who support and believe in me. However, a time has come where the weight of those dreams and ambitions has become surprisingly oppressive. That\u2019s a me problem, not a Hollywood as a whole problem,\u201d he wrote at the time.<\/p>\n

After clarifying that this was not him announcing his retirement<\/a>, David<\/strong> said he wanted to take a step back to figure out his next move and focus on his mental health.<\/p>\n

\u201cNeed time to figure that out, let it heal. My mental health is vital to my family,” David<\/strong> shared. “My career has run the gamut. I\u2019m in disbelief. But I find myself at a crossroads between the inherent self involvement being a professional actor requires, and a burning desire to give more of myself to others in need, in whatever way I can. And so, for the time being, I\u2019m pursuing that goal. There\u2019s still more work to come. Stuff to be seen. And as always, I really hope you enjoy what I\u2019ve put out there. Just,\u2026 gimme a sec.\u201d<\/p>\n

David<\/strong> first made his acting debut in 1992 on Broadway in the play Conversations with My Father<\/em>. The following year, he made his feature film debut in Life With Mickey<\/em>.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s also known for his roles as Bernard in The Santa Clause<\/em> movies along with his roles in Addams Family Values<\/em>, 10 Things I Hate About You<\/em>, Bobby<\/em>, This is the End<\/em>, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere<\/em>, and Supergirl<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Over on TV, David <\/strong>starred in the hit series Numb3rs<\/em> and appeared in multiple series shows including ER<\/em>, Mom<\/em>, Partners<\/em>, The Deuce<\/em>, and The Good Wife<\/em>.<\/p>\n
