Alejandro Gonz\u00e1lez I\u00f1\u00e1rrit<\/strong>u<\/strong><\/a> is speaking out about reviews for his latest movie, Digger<\/strong><\/em>. <\/p>\n

The 63-year-old Oscar-winning filmmaker’s new film debuted in theaters this past weekend.<\/p>\n

Prior to its theatrical release, reviews started rolling in<\/a> with many mixed emotions about the movie, though it currently has a 52% Tomatometer score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a><\/em>. <\/p>\n

In a new interview, Alejandro<\/strong> reacted to the reviews, noting how he’s okay with the negative ones. <\/p>\n

“I prefer that to the lukewarm reception,\u201d he told The New York Times<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe movie is not perfect,\u201d he noted. \u201cI like taking risks.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alejandro<\/strong> also says he’s not surprised that his latest feat has drawn such mixed reactions, and says he’s not too worried about people not getting what its about. <\/p>\n

“I think definitely it\u2019s an uncommon film. It\u2019s a provoking film,\u201d he shared. \u201cThat\u2019s the role of a film for me \u2014 let\u2019s start the conversation. My personal taste is films that try to tell me something in a different way. There\u2019s people that want more certainty in the storytelling, and that\u2019s OK too. This is not like an ice cream. So, yeah, we expected that, to be honest.\u201d<\/p>\n

If you missed it, Digger<\/em> bombed at the box office<\/a> this past weekend, and is said to potentially lose up to $200 million. <\/p>\n
