Constance Zimmer<\/strong><\/a> is revealing she had a private battle with breast cancer earlier this year. <\/p>\n

The 55-year-old actress took to Instagram on Sunday (October 4) to speak out about Breast Cancer Awareness Month by sharing her own story. <\/p>\n

October is #breastcancerawarenessmonth and I never thought I\u2019d be honoring it with my own story.<\/p>\n

On March 13th when I was away from home\u2013 I heard these words from my doctor over zoom:<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have DCIS, also refereed to as Stage 0 breast cancer.\u201c<\/p>\n

The silence was deafening.<\/p>\n

Here I was surrounded by women sharing their secrets about their Midlife truths \u2013 and I was holding onto the biggest secret I\u2019d ever held. – Constance Zimmer<\/strong> via Instagram<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

First, I had to call my husband and get home to tell our daughter in person.<\/p>\n

The mental toll that followed was overwhelming on certain days as I began talking to many more doctors then I would\u2019ve liked. Feeling like my options were limited and most suggested what was the quickest way to get this mass out ASAP, which was a mastectomy.<\/p>\n

What if that\u2019s not what I want? What if I want to save my boob instead?<\/p>\n

Thankfully, after talking with @drkristifunk<\/a>, she said:<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we can try a lumpectomy, I feel confident I can get it out.\u201d<\/p>\n

She was the first doctor to make me feel like what I wanted mattered and that made me weep with joy.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The actress noted it took three surgeries over three weeks in a row, but her doctor was able to save her breast, “and it looks good too!”<\/p>\n

“During all of this I was out on a very public press tour for Love Story<\/em>, while keeping my diagnosis and treatment private. I then followed my surgeries with radiation, while celebrating my Emmy Nomination,” Constance said. “So, me and @welcometoheidi decided to have my breast surgeon on our podcast @talkfiftytome because I know talking about it can remind women to please not wait until you have symptoms to get yourself checked in all ways possible. She continued to confirm that she is now cancer free and thanked the photographer for the photos that she shared with her post.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m grateful to be CANCER FREE and thankful to @cathrinewhite for capturing me for the first time since my diagnosis, celebrating what my body got me through over the last 7 months: pure shock and fear alongside pure joy and gratitude,” Constance<\/strong> wrote. “From hospital gowns to Emmy glamour this was one hell of a ride.”<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Constance<\/strong> guest-starred as Ann Messina Freeman in Love Story: John F Kennedy Jr and Carolyn Bessette<\/em> across three episodes. Her performance earned her a 2026 Emmy Award<\/em> nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.<\/p>\n

Prior to that, she starred in The Lincoln Lawyer<\/em> season four.<\/p>\n
