HBO\u2019s War<\/em> got off to a strong start, which in large part had to do with a twist introduced at the end<\/a> of the series premiere.<\/p>\n

During the Thursday, October 1, episode of the legal drama, viewers are introduced to two prestigious law firms in London: Cathcarts and Taylor & Byrne. They face off in court in a divorce case involving tech entrepreneur Morgan (Dominic West<\/strong>) and his film star wife, Carla (Sienna Miller<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

Archie Renaux<\/strong>\u2018s character<\/a>, Johnny, meanwhile is an ambitious young lawyer who is trying to find a job after moving from New York. He applied to different jobs in the pilot \u2014 including a position at Cathcarts that didn\u2019t appear to work out.<\/p>\n

Toward the end of the episode<\/a>, Morgan\u2019s legal team told him they planted a mole at Taylor & Byrne \u2014 who turned out to be none other than Johnny. He got a job close to Carla\u2019s lawyers as a way to get intel for the other side.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly, the first two scripts that I read, I was so happy and excited [by them],\u201d Renaux, 28, exclusively told Us<\/em>. \u201cAnd I was really like, \u2018Oh my god, I have to do this part. It\u2019s so much fun.’\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cI really, really felt lucky getting to do that. It\u2019s a really, really good part. Getting to drive the story a little bit between the two law firms and be the eyes and the ears for the audience in the two offices [was great].\u201d<\/p>\n

The new show is focused on a fictional famous couple going through a contentious divorce but inspiration was pulled from real events.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a brilliant lawyer consultant called Catherine who works with lots of high-powered divorce cases,\u201d creator George Kay told Us. \u201cAnd at the beginning of the process, I was thinking we\u2019re going to want to pilfer every celebrity divorce \u2014 like a dastardly maneuver and everything like that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The vision shifted as they went further<\/a> into production. \u201cThen, having written the show, the more you want to do is just write the characters you\u2019ve created,\u201d he continued. \u201cSo that kind of went out the window after a while, and we ended up having to think of our own dastardly things.\u201d<\/p>\n
