Perez Hilton has reconnected with his family<\/p>\n
The 48-year-old celebrity gossip blogger – whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr – was hospitalised in early August after self-harming in a disturbing TikTok livestream, but Perez has recently been reconnected with his family.<\/p>\n
A statement posted on his website explained: “It\u2019s been about two weeks since our last update on Perez, and we wanted to share a little bit about where things stand.<\/p>\n
“First, we want to thank Perez\u2019s longtime friend Tom D\u2019Angora again for setting up the GoFundMe to help Perez\u2019s mom continue to care for his three children during this time. We also want to thank everyone who has donated, sent messages, and continued to send well wishes. Perez\u2019s mom has been incredibly touched and honestly overwhelmed by everyone\u2019s generosity. It\u2019s meant so much to her and to the kids.<\/p>\n
\t\t\t<\/p>\n
“As for Perez, he remains in residential treatment, where the focus continues to be on his mental health and recovery.<\/p>\n
\n“We\u2019re very happy to share that over the past few weeks, Perez has been able to reconnect with his children and his mom.<\/p>\n
\n“They were first able to spend time together through a few video calls, and since then, Perez has also been able to see his children and his mom a few times for short, supervised visits at the facility.”<\/p>\n
\nPerez – who has Mayte, eight, Mia, 11, and Mario, 13 – cherished being reconnected with his kids.<\/p>\n
\nThe statement continued: “Seeing his children in person has meant an enormous amount to Perez. There have definitely been a lot of emotions for everyone, but being able to spend that time together has been incredibly meaningful and healing.<\/p>\n
\n“Communication with Perez is still limited, and we\u2019re not able to talk to him daily. While that\u2019s hard for us and for him, we understand that right now the priority isn\u2019t constant communication with family, but rather giving him the time and space to focus on his care and continue making progress.<\/p>\n
\n“He\u2019s continuing to work with his care team on understanding what led to his mental health crisis, recognizing warning signs, learning better ways to cope, and working through everything that brought him to this point. (sic)”<\/p>\n
\nThe statement added: “We\u2019re grateful for the progress Perez has made so far, and especially grateful that he and his children have been able to spend some time together again.”<\/p>\n
