Ben Shelton<\/strong><\/a> is being brutally honest about how the demands of his and girlfriend Trinity Rodman<\/strong><\/a>‘s sporting careers make finding time together a challenge.<\/p>\n

During this past summer, Ben<\/strong> was a runner-up in the US Open men’s final and he told Us Weekly<\/a><\/em> that staying so busy makes it hard to find quality time to spend with Trinity<\/strong>, who is also an accomplished athlete.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is really difficult,\u201d he told the outlet. \u201cI think what a lot of people don\u2019t see is when we actually do have time or a couple of days off, we\u2019re so exhausted that it\u2019s tough to do anything. It is tough to make time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trinity<\/strong> is a forward for the Washington Spirit of the National Women’s Soccer League. <\/p>\n

Ben<\/strong> admitted that sometimes when he leaves his tournaments, he feels like “a bit of a zombie” and not the “most fun person to be around.”<\/p>\n

He continued, “But we make a lot of sacrifices for our sport. I\u2019d say both of us are chasing things for our sport. We\u2019re not where we want to be yet, we\u2019re not in our primes. So this is kind of crunch time.\u201d<\/p>\n

The top-ranked tennis pro further revealed that what’s coming up is “going to be the hardest, most grueling time in our relationship,” and none of it will “be easy.”<\/p>\n

“But being able to have someone to lean on who\u2019s such an elite athlete and doing things at a really high level as well, it helps in so many ways,” Ben<\/strong> added.<\/p>\n

Trinity previously revealed the message she sent to start their romance.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Trinity<\/strong> was very supportive of her boyfriend during his US Open journey in New York, which kicked off in the middle of her own busy schedule.<\/p>\n

Ben<\/strong> expressed his gratitude for his girlfriend, who he says “grinded a ridiculous amount” to show up for him and probably flew back and forth “six or seven times during the tournament,” possibly even more than that.<\/p>\n
