href=\"https:\/\/www.justjared.com\/tags\/2026-mtv-vmas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2026 MTV Video Music Awards<\/a><\/strong><\/em> on Sunday (September 27) at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 44-year-old singer was not announced as a part of the performance for the late singer who passed away in 2016 and was a surprise addition at the end.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Adam<\/strong> hit the stage to perform &#8220;Freedom,&#8221; where he was also joined by fellow queer artists <strong>Saint Harison<\/strong>, <strong>Meek<\/strong>, and <strong>MNEK<\/strong>, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justjared.com\/tags\/sombr\/\" class=\"celebrity-tag-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong class=\"celebrity-tag-strong\">Sombr<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justjared.com\/tags\/raye\/\" class=\"celebrity-tag-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong class=\"celebrity-tag-strong\">Raye<\/strong><\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justjared.com\/tags\/teddy-swims\/\" class=\"celebrity-tag-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong class=\"celebrity-tag-strong\">Teddy Swims<\/strong><\/a> returning to the stage after their solo tributes. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-medium_large caption_belowImage class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Raye <\/strong>then came on stage to sing &#8220;I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me),&#8221; with <strong>Teddy Swims<\/strong> singing &#8220;Careless Whisper&#8221; next.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prior to their performances, the tribute was introduced by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justjared.com\/tags\/orville-peck\/\" class=\"celebrity-tag-link\" <strong>George Michael<\/strong> tribute performance comes ahead of the release of the <em>George Michael: The Faith Tour<\/em> live album on November 6th, as well as the feature-length film <em>George Michael: The Faith Tour<\/em>, set to hit theaters in the US on December 11th.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>George<\/strong> was a four-time VMAs winner during his career,
