Rose McIver<\/strong><\/a> revealed why she will be \u201cabsent\u201d from several episodes when Ghosts<\/em> returns for season 6.<\/p>\n

McIver, 37, shared a photo of a baby\u2019s hand<\/a>, writing via Instagram on Friday, September 25, \u201cKeen eyed viewers will notice that Sam is a little absent at the start of this season of Ghosts \u2014 I\u2019ve been a wee bit preoccupied but will be back to join everyone soon!\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cHuge thanks to everyone for your patience. I love both my jobs and feel really fortunate to be supported in both.\u201d<\/p>\n

McIver\u2019s post appeared to confirm<\/a> that she welcomed baby No. 2 with husband George Byrne<\/strong>. The couple, who got married in 2023, previously expanded their family with a daughter in 2024. As a result, Ghosts<\/em> went out of their way to hide McIver\u2019s baby bump<\/a> in season 3.<\/p>\n

CBS announced its schedule in April 2026, and viewers couldn\u2019t help but notice some substantial changes. Ghosts, Matlock and NCIS: Sydney received a shakeup by having their premieres moved [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not writing it in. Currently, Jay and Sam aren\u2019t going to have kids,\u201d showrunner Joe Wiseman told TV Insider in February 2024. \u201cThat is something that could happen down the line.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wiseman noted that they weren\u2019t ruling out a baby in the future \u2014 just not right now<\/a>, adding, \u201cYeah, we\u2019re definitely open to it. It just felt a little early in the series to make such a big change.\u201d<\/p>\n

Showrunner Joe Port<\/strong>, meanwhile, showed support for the idea of Sam and Jay becoming parents later. \u201cWe\u2019re not writing [the pregnancy] in, but that doesn\u2019t mean they can\u2019t have [a baby] in future seasons,\u201d he added. \u201cIt would be fun to see all the ghosts\u2019 perspectives on parenting.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ghosts<\/em>, which premiered on CBS in 2021, follows married couple Sam (McIver) and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar<\/strong>) after they inherit a country estate. Their plan to convert the historic home into a bed and breakfast doesn\u2019t pan out when a near-death experience in the house causes Sam to suddenly see the ghosts who live there.<\/a><\/p>\n
