Emmy Rossum<\/strong><\/a> opened up about how her decision to film nude scenes on Shameless<\/em><\/a> affected her dating life.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt got quite tricky because of the nudity on the show,\u201d Rossum, 40, shared on a recent episode of the \u201cPretty Tough\u201d podcast<\/a>. \u201cAll of the guys that I would go out with had preconceived notions of who I was or how I was sexually.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rossum, who played Fiona on nine seasons<\/a> of the show, recalled a specific encounter, saying, \u201cI met this guy on a plane and he was very cute and he took me out on a date. We were not meant to be together. But he was like, \u2018I really want to be president someday.’\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress was put off when the unnamed man objected to her career.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s like, \u2018But I feel like running for office and dating someone who\u2019s been exposed in the way that you have \u2026 do you think that would be tricky for me?\u2019 And I was like, \u2018This is an insane conversation to have,’\u201d she added. \u201cSo I think growing up in your 20s, you\u2019re dating and you\u2019re trying to figure out who you are.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rossum continued: \u201cThere\u2019s also all these preconceived notions about you that are out there because your body is your art, right? And people can get confused. So that certainly came up for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before exchanging vows with husband Sam Esmail<\/strong> in 2017, Rossum was briefly married to Justin Siegel<\/strong> from 2008 to 2010 and later romantically linked to Adam Duritz<\/strong>. She recently reflected on the challenges she faced on her search for The One.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy 21-year-old brain thought, you know, divorce doesn\u2019t seem that complicated. Like, it\u2019s probably pretty straightforward,\u201d she shared on a July episode of the \u201cCall Her Daddy\u201d podcast about her divorce from Siegal. \u201cAnd so he literally printed out a marriage contract online and got some guy on the internet to come over to my house. I found a white turtleneck that was in my closet and threw it on because I was like, \u2018This is appropriate, right?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Rossum and Siegel, 45, secretly tied the knot in February 2008. Their marriage only became public when Siegel filed for divorce in 2009.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we were married for, oh, I was away for six months. When I got back, it became abundantly clear we weren\u2019t a match in any way,\u201d Rossum recalled. \u201cI told my mom, \u2018Hey, I\u2019m breaking up with Justin, and I need a lawyer.\u2019 She was like, \u2018You did not.\u2019 I was like, \u2018I did.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
