Anna Camp<\/strong><\/a> took inspiration from a fan favorite reality TV host while leading HGTV<\/a>\u2019s A Very Haunted Renovation<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have to say, I\u2019m a huge Love Island<\/em> fan, and everyone would say, \u2018What are you doing now, Anna?\u2019 And I was like, \u2018I\u2019m kind of the Ariana Madix<\/strong> of HGTV\u2019s Haunted Renovation<\/em>,\u2019\u201d Camp, 43, exclusively tells Us<\/em> while promoting her new home renovation series.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was my hero, my reality host hero, you could say,\u201d the Pitch Perfect<\/em> star adds of Madix, 41, who has hosted Peacock\u2019s Love Island USA<\/em><\/a> since season 6 in 2024.<\/p>\n

A Very Haunted Renovation<\/em>, which premiered on HGTV on September 15, follows six designers who spend 31 days inside Fremont, Ohio\u2019s Bihl Manor, a famously haunted Victorian home, to renovate it and win a $50,000 cash prize. The contestants must eat, sleep, live, and work inside the haunted house while tackling elimination challenges and fighting their own fears \u2014 a recipe for some serious tension.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes when you\u2019re watching them, and they say things like that, you\u2019re like, \u2018Wait, they\u2019re not joking,\u2019\u201d Camp tells Us<\/em> of contestants who declared they weren\u2019t there to make friends. \u201c\u2018Oh no, they\u2019re really serious right now.\u2019 And it would get really tense in those, like, elimination rooms. And I found myself, like, very involved, like personally with everyone, and I wanted everyone to just be happy.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continues, \u201cI started trying to make jokes, like break the silence, and then the producer in my ear would be like, \u2018Anna, this is serious, be scary,\u2019 and I\u2019d be like, \u2018Sorry, have to snap back into character.\u2019 But yeah, no, I got very involved watching everyone compete and say some really crazy things to each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

Camp is no stranger to the horror world, as she starred in the supernatural film From Black<\/em> in 2023 and the slasher sequel Scream 7<\/em> earlier this year. Plus, Camp tells Us<\/em> she\u2019s a longtime fan of HGTV, making A Very Haunted Renovation<\/em> the perfect project for her.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always been just, like, fascinated by how much work that they get done and the amount of time that these designers do it in,\u201d she explains. \u201cSo I was just very excited to jump at the chance to host the show, especially because it dealt with ghosts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Camp adds, \u201cI welcome the spooky vibes and the scare stuff. And a lot of crazy things happened during the shoot too. So it was really fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Of course, it wouldn\u2019t be a haunted reality series without a few ghost sightings \u2014 something else Camp is no stranger to.<\/p>\n
