Peter Krause<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s shocking exit from 9-1-1<\/em> <\/a>paved the way for his new show \u2014 but he is still hoping to share the screen with some of his former costars on Line of Fire<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI could see Kenneth Choi playing a fiery senator at some point in time,\u201d Krause, 61, exclusively told Us<\/em> ahead of the NBC show\u2019s premiere on Monday, September 21.<\/p>\n

Krause gushed about the possibilities<\/a> that have come from joining Line of Fire<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love and feel very fortunate to be working with Hope [Davis]<\/strong> on this project. I have not embarked on a family show or a relationship that is as complex or has as complex a history as [our characters] Jane and Mike do,\u201d he added during the joint interview. \u201cSo this is new in that way.\u201d<\/p>\n

While teasing the season, Krause mentioned \u201cthe depth of experience\u201d that the fictional couple has had so far, adding, \u201cWe\u2019ve yet to even explore it at all. We\u2019re just getting started. It\u2019s really quite huge.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cIt\u2019s a particularly complex relationship and a complex family. They have a complex history, and I just haven\u2019t had anything this huge \u2014 to me anyway \u2014 to start off with. Parenthood is big and as a family, we deal with things. But the backstory for these characters is just really big and complex and I\u2019m looking forward to getting in there more.\u201d<\/p>\n

Line of Fire<\/em> centers around a family of agents from various branches of law enforcement who find themselves tangled in a deadly conspiracy. In addition to Krause and Davis, the show stars<\/a> Kat Cunning, Tommy O\u2019Brien, Taylor Bloom<\/strong> and Charlie Barnett<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Creator] Joshua [Safran]<\/strong> is masterful at story architecture. I asked him not to tell us things that our characters did not know,\u201d Krause recalled. \u201cIt\u2019s helpful for us to move forward. Everybody has blind spots in life and I think that it\u2019s important in terms of storytelling that these characters \u2014 like anybody \u2014 have blind spots too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Krause felt reinvigorated<\/a> by the project.<\/p>\n

\u201cI particularly enjoy the family drama,\u201d he noted. \u201cBut I know that the suspenseful elements of the show are also really well constructed by Josh.\u201d<\/p>\n

Line of Fire<\/em> marks a return to NBC<\/a> for Krause after his six-season stint on Parenthood<\/em>, which ran from 2010 to 2015. He then was a main cast member on ABC\u2019s 9-1-1<\/em> before the show surprised<\/a> fans eight seasons in by killing off Krause\u2019s character.<\/p>\n
