Reacher<\/em> star Alan Ritchson<\/strong><\/a> is meditating on the importance of self-love amid his divorce from estranged wife<\/a> Catherine Ritchson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cHere\u2019s some post-sauna clarity for ya. Today I want to talk about learning to love yourself and how I think this could be the great antidote to our times and the frustration that many of us feel,\u201d Ritchson, 43, said in a video shared via Instagram on Sunday, September 20. \u201cYou know, the world bombards us with so many messages, each day, about how we\u2019re not quite enough, right?\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor continued, \u201cIf we just bought this thing or if we were not sober we\u2019d be more fun, more relational, we\u2019d be better friends, you know? If we had this or that material thing we\u2019d be worth more to the world and more worthy of love, right? It\u2019s kind of the message that capitalism teaches us and it\u2019s hard in western cultures to get rid of that lie.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Ungentlemany Warfare<\/em> star\u2019s inspirational message comes not long after he announced his split from Catherine<\/a>, 37, after two decades of marriage.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter 20 years together, Cat and I have decided to end our marriage and continue alongside one another in a different way,\u201d the pair announced in a joint statement shared via Instagram on September 12. \u201cWe grew up together, we built a life and a family together.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pair continued at the time, \u201cWe are raising three incredible boys, who will always be the center of our world. Nothing can diminish what these years have meant to us \u2014 or the love and respect we will always share.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to court documents obtained by Us<\/em> on Monday, September 14, the actor and his estranged wife tried to reconcile just three months after the actor initially filed for divorce in December 2025<\/a>. According to the docs, the former couple filed a \u201csuspension of the proceedings\u201d three months later as they attempted to salvage their marriage.<\/p>\n

A judge agreed to the order and suspended their divorce for six months. The documents stated that Alan and Catherine \u201cmay resume living together as husband and wife and their acts.\u201d Per the court, the divorce could proceed if the pair\u2019s reconciliation attempt was ultimately unsuccessful.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, the star reminisced on how self-love is the key to breaking dangerous cycles and better showing up for not only oneself but for others.<\/p>\n

\u201cI, personally, I grew up in a home where my parents, when my mother would notice that I got a lot of attention effortlessly without trying,\u201d he continued. \u201cAs a kid, people would just approach us. \u2018Look at him\u2019 and, \u2018Oh, he\u2019s so, you know, so cute.\u2019 In my ear, she\u2019d whisper, \u2018It\u2019s not all about you.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Alan added, \u201cThis reduction of myself when I wasn\u2019t even trying to get attention, so you hear that enough times and you start to feel like, \u2018I\u2019m not only not worthy of love, but I\u2019m not supposed to be loved.\u2019 And you carry that into adulthood, and I\u2019m sure we all have our own versions of that, whatever that might look like. But what does it look like when we don\u2019t love ourselves, right? We\u2019re constantly escaping into some other thing that ultimately reduces us into a lower vibrational state of ourselves \u2014 a lower form of who we\u2019re truly meant to be.\u201d<\/p>\n
