\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Best of the Best<\/strong><\/a><\/em> is now streaming on Netflix and many fans are curious about the movie\u2019s impressive dance scenes.<\/p>\n Stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan<\/strong><\/a> and Priyanka Kedia<\/strong><\/a> spent months preparing for the film and underwent extensive training. Maitreyi<\/strong> wanted to learn how to do a dance move that was originally going to be assigned to a double.<\/p>\n She plays Maya, while Priyanka<\/strong> plays her childhood best friend, Anjali. The pair join UCLA\u2019s competitive Bollywood-fusion dance team in director Lena Khan<\/strong>\u2018s comedy, putting their friendship into a demanding new setting.<\/p>\n The Never Have I Ever<\/em> star told People<\/a><\/em> that her four-month prep for the role involved six dance classes a day, six days a week.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not someone who grew up playing a sport and I didn\u2019t like sweating. So you can paint the picture of a Brown girl sweaty on the floor. Flat as a pancake, dying and dry heaving. That was me,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Choreographer Joya Kazi<\/strong> said the two leads had progressed enough to keep pace with the professional dancers. She praised both stars as impressing her the most during training, saying \u201cthey\u2019re the ones who worked the longest.\u201d<\/p>\n Director Lena Khan<\/strong> worked with Kazi<\/strong>, Makenzie Dustman<\/strong>, and Phillip Chbeeb<\/strong> on the movie\u2019s choreography. In Cosmopolitan<\/a><\/em>\u2018s first-look feature, Khan<\/strong> explained that the numbers needed their own identities while still serving the story and her approach included ambitious staging built around the scene\u2019s emotional purpose.<\/p>\n \u201cI wanted us to go big\u2014whether it was magic realism or elaborate set design\u2014at one point we literally built a mountain on stage\u2014to pull out whatever theme or feeling the story needed in that moment,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Priyanka<\/strong> talked to Netflix Tudum<\/a> about she was proud of a difficult flip she learned during a performance alongside co-star Ankur Rathee<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cI remember pulling that off for the first time and being like, \u2018Whoa, I can do that. That\u2019s crazy,\u2019\u201d she recalled.<\/p>\n Maitreyi<\/strong> also found herself pushed to her limits during an impressive bit of choreography in the finale with a slide akin to something you might see in a Mission Impossible <\/em>movie.<\/p>\n That was the moment the director was intending to use doubles, but Maitreyi<\/strong> wanted to do it herself.<\/p>\n \u201cI said, \u2018Hey, if it doesn\u2019t inconvenience anyone or time on set, I would love to just do this move myself because months ago I was never physically able to do this move.
