Guillermo Rodriguez<\/strong><\/a> made it through week one of Dancing With the Stars<\/em><\/a> season 35 by the skin of his teeth \u2014 but he almost didn\u2019t dance at all.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the beginning, I wanted to go home,\u201d Rodriguez, 55, confessed on the Friday, September 18, episode of the \u201cDancing With the Stars Official Podcast<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Podcast host Andy Richter<\/strong><\/a>, who competed on season 34 of the ABC series, revealed that he heard Rodriguez ask to go home when they ran into each other at the airport on the way to Good Morning America<\/em> prior to the season 35 cast announcement.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWhile many celebrities tend to shed pounds competing on Dancing With the Stars, season 35 contestant Guillermo Rodriguez said the exact opposite has happened to him. \u201cIt\u2019s going good, Jimmy,\u201d Rodriguez, 55, told Jimmy Kimmel of his DWTS rehearsals during the Tuesday, September 8, episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! \u201cIt\u2019s a lot of work. My [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cYou must have said five times, \u2018I want to go home. Send me home. Don\u2019t vote for me<\/a>,\u2019\u201d Richter, 59, recalled.<\/p>\n

Rodriguez admitted that although he was hesitant to compete with his partner, Witney Carson<\/strong><\/a>, who is the reigning mirrorball champion, he has changed his tune heading into week two.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow, it\u2019s like, I gotta learn. I gotta learn how to dance. I gotta practice. I want to do good in the second week,\u201d he explained. \u201cIt sucks to be in the bottom.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em><\/a> sidekick revealed that he is \u201cvery excited\u201d to have made it past the first elimination after receiving a score of only 10 out of 30<\/a> from the judges for his cha-cha.<\/p>\n

However, when the names were read during the Tuesday, September 15, episode, Rodriguez panicked.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel good. I feel great, but when they announced who was going home, I was like, \u2018Yeah!\u2019 And then I go, \u2018Wow, wait, I have five days to prepare for a second one,\u2019\u201d he remembered. \u201cI was like, \u2018Oh, my God.\u2019 I\u2019m already stressed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carson, 32, meanwhile, said that Rodriguez has already shown improvement<\/a> and a bigger desire to compete since his initial weariness.<\/p>\n
