\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Kim Kardashian<\/strong><\/a> is facing some health woes.<\/p>\n On Thursday (September 17), Hulu debuted the first trailer for the upcoming 8th season of The Kardashians<\/strong><\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n At one point in the trailer, the 45-year-old reality star reveals that she has \u201csomething called esophagitis.\u201d<\/p>\n In another clip, Kim <\/strong>is laying laying in a hospital bed wearing a gown as someone off camera asks, \u201cDidn\u2019t your father\u2026 isn\u2019t it what he died of?\u201d<\/p>\n According to the Mayo Clinic<\/em><\/a>, esophagitis is a \u201cswelling and irritation, called inflammation, of the tissues that line the esophagus. The esophagus is the muscular tube that carries food and drink from the mouth to the stomach.\u201d <\/p>\n The condition is diagnosed through tests, including endoscopy, during which a tube with a camera is inserted into the throat and esophagus.<\/p>\n Kim<\/strong>\u2018s father, Robert Kardashian<\/strong>, died of esophageal cancer in 2003 when he was 59 years old.<\/p>\n However, esophagitis and esophageal cancer are not the same.<\/p>\n According to the University of Washington\u2019s Division of Gastroenterology<\/a>, chronic esophagitis is \u201cvery common\u201d and can result from acid reflux. The department notes that one in 10 reflux patients could develop Barrett\u2019s esophagus \u201cin which the normal lining of the esophagus is replaced by one prone to cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n The trailer did not clarify the severity of Kim<\/strong>\u2018s esophagitis.<\/p>\n The Kardasians<\/em> season 8 premieres on Hulu on October 8.
