The 40-year-old star revealed the happy news in an op ed for Vogue magazine, as she said that she and husband Luis Felber are proud parents of a baby girl. <\/p>\n
As well as sharing a picture of herself and Luis with their newborn, Lena revealed her first words to her daughter were: \u201cHello… I\u2019m your mama. You\u2026 you look nothing like I thought you would, but exactly right. We\u2019ve been waiting for you, do you know that? It was so nice of you to come.”<\/p>\n
The baby\u2019s arrival comes after Lena underwent a hysterectomy in 2017, aged 31, in her battle against endometriosis. <\/p>\n
\t\t\t<\/p>\n
She said previously of the operation: \u201cIt was a grief but it was also a relief. I thought I would have the opportunity to experience my fertility and my cycle waning and it never was.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nLena also hinted that she and Luis, who have been married since 2021, were looking into different ways of having kids, as she told The Times in July 2025 that she and her husband were \u201cin the process of expanding our family in new ways”.<\/p>\n
\nIn the Vogue op ed, Lena revealed that her daughter – whose name has yet to be revealed – made her big entrance into the world two weeks late. <\/p>\n
\nShe wrote: \u201c13 days late, in the face of a solar eclipse and a meteor shower, she announced herselfI sat on a hospital bed, between the legs of a woman I hadn\u2019t known a year ago, waiting for a glimpse of this person who I had been waiting for with something related to patience, but also none at all.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe Girls creator added that while she had expected to feel jealous of her surrogate, she instead went through some very different emotions. <\/p>\n
\nShe mused: \u201cThe feelings I thought would be there somehow weren\u2019t: namely jealousy, that this woman could do for a child\u2014for my child\u2014what I could not. Carry her safely in her body, use her form to feed and house her, regulate the baby\u2019s ever-evolving nervous system with steadiness, heart, and breath.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\u201cInstead, I felt a different kind of jealousy – toward said baby, for the chance to be tucked into someone who radiated such safety. I could just tell she knew how to steer an SUV in the snow.\u201d<\/p>\n
