Andrew Scott<\/strong><\/a> stepped out for the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival<\/strong><\/a><\/em> premiere of his upcoming new movie Elsinore <\/em><\/strong>on Monday (September 14) at Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.<\/p>\n

The 49-year-old actor was joined by co-stars Johnny Flynn<\/strong>, Billie Piper<\/strong>, and Monica Dolan<\/strong> to debut their new film. <\/p>\n

The deeply emotional and inspirational true story of Ian Charleson, a\u00a0
gifted actor whose greatest challenge becomes his greatest triumph. Facing his own mortality with unflinching honesty, wit, and grace, Charleson delivers a courageous performance that becomes a source of healing and inspiration for those around him.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The cast also includes Olivia Colman<\/strong><\/a>, Luke Thompson<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0David Dawson<\/strong><\/a>, Matthew Beard<\/strong><\/a>, Joe Locke<\/strong><\/a>, Georgie Glen<\/strong>, Sadie Soverall<\/strong><\/a>, Adeel Akhtar<\/strong><\/a>, Dickie Beau<\/strong>, Juliet Stevenson<\/strong>, and Peter Mullan<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

In addition to starring, Andrew<\/strong> is also a producer. The movie is set to hit select theaters on November 20th.<\/p>\n

A couple of days earlier, Andrew <\/strong>took part in an “In Conversation With…” panel with moderator Keith Bennie<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

During their conversation, Keith<\/strong> brought up Andrew<\/strong>‘s Fleabag<\/em> character, who was dubbed “The Hot Priest” online, and the actor said he had fears of audiences not accepting him as a gay man playing a straight love interest. <\/p>\n

“I guess there was a fear that I wouldn\u2019t be able to get cast in those roles. That\u2019s what everybody said,\u201d Andrew <\/strong>said, via Variety<\/a><\/em>. \u201cBut I knew, because when I did plays, that the people that were waiting at the stage door, they knew my sexuality and they did not care.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel very proud that that was quite a big moment because people were like, \u2018The actor is gay. Whoa!\u2019” he continued. “And it is like this idea that the audience is stupid. We go to see \u2018Batman,\u2019 and it\u2019s like, \u2018Oh my god! He is not a bat?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s just prejudice,\u201d Andrew<\/strong> added for those that may not accept it. \u201cAnd we won\u2019t cater to those people, or I\u2019m certainly not going to.\u201d<\/p>\n
