The delivery platform DoorDash is investing in and partnering with Marc Lore-owned food tech company Wonder in deals worth a total of $425 million, the company announced<\/a> on Tuesday. DoorDash will acquire Wonder\u2019s Grubhub Campus Dining business (formerly Tapingo) for $300 million and will add $125 million to Wonder\u2019s $650 million Series D round<\/a>, announced in July.<\/p>\n A chain of ghost kitchen food halls designed for delivery, Wonder is trying to take a one-size-fits-all approach to fast casual dining, allowing customers to order food from a variety of different restaurants, all under the same roof. Wonder, founded by veteran e-commerce entrepreneur Marc Lore, whose prior companies were acquired by Amazon<\/a> and Walmart<\/a>, is slowly building a takeout empire. <\/p>\n Last year, Wonder acquired the food delivery platform Grubhub<\/a> for $650 million, adding to its portfolio of brands like Blue Apron<\/a> and Tastemade<\/a>. Wonder also bought the New York City-based restaurant chains Mighty Quinn\u2019s BBQ<\/a>, Salt Hank\u2019s<\/a>, and Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken<\/a>.<\/p>\n Lore said in a statement that the DoorDash partnership allows Wonder to \u201cfocus on [its] long-term ambition: a fully autonomous food system that can plan, produce and deliver personalized meals at scale, serving all 21 meals people eat each week.\u201d <\/p>\n With its acquisition, DoorDash said that it wants to expand Wonder\u2019s Grubhub Campus Dining business, which is live at 450 colleges and universities, to stadiums, hotels, and other venues.<\/p>\n \u201cAdding Grubhub Campus Dining to our platform will enable us to bring greater choice and convenience to college students while streamlining operations and reducing friction for universities,\u201d DoorDash co-founder Tony Xu said in a statement.<\/p>\n For those who live in the Northeast or Mid-Atlantic regions, the fast growth of Wonder is palpable. It seems as though new stores are popping up all over the place, and it\u2019s not an illusion. Wonder says it now has 157 locations, more than quadrupling its footprint since the start of 2025.
