Tyler Perry intends to relocate in 2027<\/p>\n
The 57-year-old filmmaker has announced that he plans to swap the US for Puerto Rico early next year.<\/p>\n
Asked if he ever plans to “chill out” in his career, Tyler said on Today with Jenna and Sheinelle: “Yep, moving to Puerto Rico at the top of the year, and I\u2019m pulling back a whole lot.”<\/p>\n
Tyler – who has an 11-year-old son called Aman – admitted that he’s more aware of his own age than ever before.<\/p>\n

The billionaire feels it’s “time to slow down a bit” in his working life.<\/p>\n
\nTyler – who has written and produced many stage plays during the course of his career – explained: “Getting older [inspired this]. It\u2019s time to slow down a bit, enjoy more time with my son and just take it all in.”<\/p>\n
\nThe filmmaker shares his son with ex-girlfriend Gelila Bekele, and Tyler admits that he has no intention of ever tying the knot.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: “At this age, no, that\u2019s not a good idea for me. So no, won\u2019t be any marriage for me.”<\/p>\n
\nMeanwhile, Tyler previously admitted that he’s faced huge challenges during the course of his career.<\/p>\n
\nThe producer explained that he hit rock bottom before climbing to the top of his industry.<\/p>\n
\nHe told AARP: “It was the early \u201990s, here in Atlanta. I had this dream of being a playwright, and I had written a play called I Know I\u2019ve Been Changed, which was about child abuse survivors and the power of prayer. <\/p>\n
\n“I was working as a bill collector, and I had saved $12,000. I spent all my money to put this play up, and it didn\u2019t work. I lost it all. After that, I tried again \u2014 many, many times \u2014 to produce the play. I would get different jobs between those times, but I\u2019d quit to work on the play, and I ended up homeless. <\/p>\n
\n“For three months, I lived in a Geo Metro that I was hiding from the repo man. The despair, the suicidal thoughts, the overwhelming feeling of not wanting to live in that kind of moment \u2014 that was real.”<\/p>\n
