Former costars Gina Rodriguez<\/strong><\/a> and Justin Baldoni<\/strong><\/a> are reuniting on their first project since Jane the Virgin<\/em>.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cHey Director @hereisgina Day 1 \ud83e\udd4a,\u201d Baldoni, 42, wrote via Instagram on Monday, September 14, alongside a video featuring the actor and Rodriguez, 42, hugging on set. \u201cGod is good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Deadline<\/em> confirmed that Baldoni has signed on to produce Rodriguez\u2019s theatrical directorial debut boxing film, House of Guerrero<\/em>. Baldoni and partner Andrew Calof<\/strong> will be producing the project through Wayfarer Studios, while Rodriguez is directing and also serving as a producer.<\/p>\n

Based on an original story by Rodriguez and screenwriter Bernardo Cubr\u00eda<\/strong>, House of Guerrero<\/em> follows \u201ca young fighter whose promising boxing career is cut short before he gets one last shot at stepping back into the ring and fighting for the life he thought he\u2019d lost forever.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tJustin Baldoni and Gina Rodriguez evolved from onscreen love interests to best friends. The duo met on the set of Jane the Virgin, which premiered on The CW in 2014. Based on a Venezuelan telenovela, Jane the Virgin starred Rodriguez as devout virgin Jane who became pregnant after an accidental artificial insemination by her gynecologist [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Wayfarer referred to the project as \u201ca boxing film for a new generation\u201d that \u201cbrings a fresh perspective to the genre while centering a community that has long shaped the sport,\u201d in a press release.<\/p>\n

House of Guerrero<\/em> marks the first time Rodriguez and Baldoni have reunited professionally<\/a> since their hit The CW series Jane the Virgin<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The duo met on the set of Jane the Virgin<\/em>, which premiered on The CW in 2014. Based on a Venezuelan telenovela, the series starred Rodriguez as devout virgin Jane who is accidentally impregnated by her gynecologist via artificial insemination, while Baldoni played Rafael a.k.a the biological father of her baby.<\/p>\n

Rodriguez and Baldoni remained close friends in the wake of the series\u2019 five-year run. The actress publicly stood by Baldoni after Blake Lively<\/strong> sued the director in December 2024, accusing her It Ends With Us<\/em> costar of sexual harassment and orchestrating an alleged smear campaign against her.<\/p>\n

Baldoni vehemently denied the allegations and subsequently countersued Lively. His lawsuit was dismissed by a judge in June 2025. Lively and Baldoni ultimately reached a settlement out of court in May.<\/p>\n

Amid the drama, Justin and his wife Emily Baldoni<\/strong> made a rare statement.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tJustin Baldoni\u2019s working relationships with his Hollywood colleagues have been under a microscope after Blake Lively accused him of misconduct on the set of 2024\u2019s It Ends With Us. Lively sued Baldoni for sexual harassment in December 2024, claiming that he caused her \u201csevere emotional distress\u201d and fostered a \u201chostile work environment\u201d while they costarred [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWe have not done this in a while, so we have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years and it\u2019s not because we haven\u2019t had anything to say,\u201d Justin began in a July Instagram video. \u201cLord knows we have, but it just felt like every time we went to make a video like this where we wanted to speak, something was telling us not to. It just doesn\u2019t feel like the right time. We were talking about it and feeling into it and praying about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Justin went on to acknowledge<\/a> the many \u201cpainful things\u201d that were \u201cspoken into existence\u201d as a result of his lengthy legal battle with Lively.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat created so much noise and we didn\u2019t want to add to the noise,\u201d he explained of why the couple stayed quiet. \u201cWe just wanted to let the justice system run its course.\u201d<\/p>\n
