More than a month after Perez Hilton<\/span><\/a><\/strong> was hospitalized following a disturbing livestream, the celebrity blogger\u2019s family and team are sharing a rare update.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter weeks in the hospital receiving treatment for his physical injuries, Perez entered a residential treatment program where he can focus fully on his mental health and recovery,\u201d his family shared in a statement posted via Hilton\u2019s website<\/span><\/a> on Monday, September 14. \u201cThis was an important next step, but there\u2019s still a long road ahead. Perez is expected to remain in residential treatment for several more weeks, potentially longer, depending on what his treatment team believes is best for his recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hilton, 48, does not have access to his phone or laptop, and his contact with family and close friends remains limited so he can focus on his health.<\/p>\n

In the new statement, Hilton\u2019s family also set the record straight on \u201cseveral false reports\u201d about his current physical and mental condition.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo be clear, Perez has not lost ten years of his memory, does not believe it\u2019s 2016 and is not confused about where he is. He is lucid and communicates clearly with his family,\u201d the statement read. \u201cHe does not have stitches and is not covered in gauze. And no, he has not asked anyone to bring Katy Perry to see him or mentioned her. No family member, and no one authorized to speak on Perez\u2019s behalf, provided these false claims.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hilton alarmed his TikTok followers on August 4 when he went live on the platform and appeared to perform dangerous acts of self-harm. Miami-Dade police confirmed to Us<\/i> that officers responded to calls \u201cregarding an individual who was live-streaming acts of self-harm on social media\u201d and were dispatched to his home for what they suspected was a \u201cpossible suicide\u201d attempt.<\/p>\n

As Hilton gets professional help, his team confirmed that his three children \u201cremain together, safe and doing well in the care of their grandmother<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Hilton\u2019s family expressed gratitude for the continued outpouring of love, kindness and well wishes, they acknowledged some \u201cdisturbing comments from people saying they wish Perez had succeeded in taking his own life.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhatever anyone may think of \u2018Perez Hilton,\u2019 his past, or things he has said over the years, there\u2019s a real human being behind the name,\u201d the statement read. \u201cMario is a father of three, a son, a brother and a friend who reached a point where he was struggling so deeply that he thought the people he loved would somehow be better off without him.
