Lily Allen thinks David Harbour’s reaction to her album was ‘generous’<\/p>\n
The 41-year-old singer’s recent record was inspired by her split from the Stranger Things actor, though she has insisted the lyrics are a \u201cmixture of fact and fiction\u201d, and when he was asked about his own feelings on the album, David insisted he “respected” his ex-wife for using her experiences to “create art”.<\/p>\n
He told Variety: \u201cI do believe that it is the privilege of every artist to use their experience to create art, and so I respect her for doing that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Asked about his comments, Lily told The Cut: “I think that was a generous thing for him to say.”<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, David won an Emmy for Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for his portrayal of Floyd Smernitch in HBO Max\u2019s DTF St. Louis and Lily is pleased the “excellent” actor has been enjoying recognition for his career.<\/p>\n
\nShe added: “He\u2019s having a real moment of success as well, right? He\u2019s been nominated for an Emmy, and it\u2019s great.<\/p>\n
\n“We\u2019re all doing our own thing, and we\u2019re all doing what we\u2019re supposed to do. If there\u2019s one thing I know about David Harbour, it\u2019s that he\u2019s an excellent actor.”<\/p>\n
\nThe Smile singer – who has daughters Ethel, 14, and 13-year-old Marnie with first husband Sam Cooper – confirmed she is in a new relationship but she is keen to “protect” the romance so won’t share too many details out of respect for her partner.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: “‘Yes, I have a boyfriend’ is about as far as I\u2019m willing to go. I am actively trying to protect this relationship.”<\/p>\n
\nAsked if maintaining privacy is difficult, she said: “Yes, because I\u2019m not a particularly private person. I would be happy to share with the world all the intimate details of my life because I think what makes us human is discussing relationships.<\/p>\n
\n“But I\u2019m not the only person in these equations. There are other people. And so it\u2019s not so much my privacy; it\u2019s theirs.”<\/p>\n
\nLily is feeling optimistic about life and thinks surrounding herself with “positive and supportive people” helps her maintain a bright outlook on life.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: “I\u2019m pretty filled with hope, and I\u2019m pretty optimistic. I feel like I don\u2019t spend as much time with people who bring out a more pessimistic side of me. I\u2019m surrounded by pretty positive and supportive people.<\/p>\n
\n“I can definitely be a victim of myself and spiral when things really are not that bad. And I think I\u2019ve found a way to keep out that noise.<\/p>\n
\n“My life is pretty good, you know? I\u2019ve done really well this year.<\/p>\n
\n“I\u2019ve gotten myself into a place where I\u2019m financially stable and self-sufficient. I\u2019m setting a good example for my kids. I\u2019m eating well. I\u2019m going on nice holidays. I\u2019m booked and I\u2019m busy. How could I not be hopeful?”<\/p>\n
